Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is argue that, all university students of undergraduate field should incorporate a fraction of time from their system consume in studying abroad or executing in internship. I believe that advantages of these two aspects overshadow the disadvantages.

Primary advantages of studying abroad include, students get exposure of different cultures, study environments and lifestyle of international students. For example, a student who has spent some time in international university has better understanding of teaching methods of different professors and could do better in research programs.

Same for internships, students who work as internee in a company learn more about professional life, which would help them in their upcoming future life. Second benefit of working as a placements is that, students get money to meet their expenses. For example, pupils of university can earn from part-time job and help their families in hard times.

On the other hand, it has some drawbacks which cause students to pay less attention on their course work. If students spend more time exploring new things and new cities in a foreign country, then they will spend less time studying actual courses of their fields. For example, some students go for clubbing in a foreign country just for ecstasy. So, they end up wasting time and money. Furthermore, students who work as trainee in a company could get stress of work which will effect their studies in university. For example there are some companies who hire undergraduate students and get most of work from them and pay them very low. It could cause mental stress for students.

In conclusion, spending time in a foreign country and working as placement in a company during university is very helpful for students. It has little limitations but more benefits for long run and metal development for students which will definitely help them in their future professional life

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, covering cultural exposure, professional development, and financial benefits, as well as counter-arguments regarding academic focus and workplace stress. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about 'clubbing' is a bit anecdotal and lacks depth. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the long-term implications of these experiences rather than listing them briefly. The conclusion is clear, but the overall argument could be more nuanced to demonstrate a deeper exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'For example' and 'Furthermore' are used correctly, but the transitions between sentences could be smoother to improve the flow. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'these two aspects' in the introduction. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence connects logically to the previous one would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'incorporate', 'overshadow', and 'ecstasy', though some word choices are slightly unnatural or imprecise, such as 'executing in internship' or 'working as a placements'. There are also minor errors in word formation, such as 'metal development' instead of 'mental development'. To improve, focus on learning collocations—for example, 'undertaking an internship' rather than 'executing an internship'—and ensure that vocabulary is used in the correct context to convey meaning more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a fraction of time', 'the advantages'), verb forms ('It is argue that'), and prepositions. Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'all university students of undergraduate field should incorporate...'. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some issues with comma usage. To move to a higher band, you should aim for more error-free sentences and demonstrate better control over complex grammatical structures, ensuring that subject-verb agreement and article usage are consistently accurate.
