Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all parts of the task and maintained a clear position throughout. You provide relevant arguments for both the advantages and disadvantages of studying abroad. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat inconsistent. For instance, the example regarding the scholarship program is vague, and the point about 'mental condition' is under-developed and lacks logical clarity. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explained with a clear link back to the main argument. While your position is clear, the supporting evidence could be more specific and logically structured to demonstrate a more sophisticated level of critical thinking.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, and there is an overall progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Moreover', 'In conclusion', and 'In contrast', to link your points. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the transition 'The most indispensable to learn about advantages', which is grammatically awkward and disrupts the flow. Additionally, some sentences within paragraphs feel disjointed, making the logical connection between ideas less smooth. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words will help your writing flow more naturally and improve the overall coherence of your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'prevalent', 'plausible', and 'exponential'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors that hinder precision. For example, you write 'it curtail students maturity' (should be 'curtails') and 'international studying' (should be 'studying abroad'). There are also minor errors in word formation, such as 'self reliability' instead of 'self-reliance'. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, you need to focus on using words in their correct context and improving your grasp of collocations to achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('benefits... overcomes', 'drawbacks includes') and incorrect verb forms ('students might loss their concentration'). Some sentences are also structurally incomplete or confusing, such as 'The most indispensable to learn about advantages of studying even for a short period in other countries as it provides...'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are grammatically sound.
