Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is believed that all university undergraduate courses should include a abroad study or working in foreign countries for some time. I think benefits surpass disadvantages to a large extent. My position is explained further.

The foremost argument to support by view is that, it improve communication skills. If students learning in foreign universities, they become familier with another language. Therefore, it is useful skills when they working in multinational companies. For example, students who completed study in the USA got job easily in India because of their command in the English language. In addition, learners become independent. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 112 words long. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While you have stated a position, the ideas are significantly under-developed. You mention communication skills and independence, but these points lack the depth, specific examples, and logical extension required for a full essay. To improve, you must expand your arguments by providing detailed explanations and more comprehensive examples to meet the length requirement and demonstrate a more thorough exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some basic organization with a clear introduction and body paragraph. However, the progression of ideas is limited due to the brevity of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Therefore' and 'In addition,' but the overall structure is too thin to demonstrate a sophisticated use of paragraphing or logical flow. The transition between the introduction and the body is abrupt. To achieve a higher score, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are linked more fluidly throughout the entire response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision expected for an academic task. There are some errors in word choice and form, such as 'abroad study' (should be 'studying abroad') and 'familier' (spelling error). You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to education and professional development. Expanding your vocabulary will help you express complex ideas more effectively and improve the overall quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. Examples include 'it improve communication skills' (subject-verb agreement error), 'If students learning' (missing auxiliary verb), and 'they working' (incorrect verb form). Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency. Once these are secure, try to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses or conditional sentences, while ensuring they are grammatically accurate.
