Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of mandatory study abroad or work placements. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the benefits are explored, the discussion on disadvantages is less detailed and lacks specific examples compared to the advantages. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a balanced level of depth and that the conclusion offers a more insightful summary of the main points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a central theme. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'For example', 'In conclusion'). There are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, such as in the second paragraph where the transition between practical knowledge and the example of a 'fresher' is abrupt. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence clearly connects to the previous one would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choices, such as 'in aboard education' instead of 'studying abroad' and 'get to know with working of real-time projects'. Some terms are used repetitively, such as 'people' and 'different'. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more sophisticated collocations and avoid basic errors in word formation. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic and topic-specific terminology would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Many of universities bachelors degree courses have to include'), incorrect preposition usage, and missing articles. For instance, 'lower income people can affect due to this' is grammatically incorrect. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring correct sentence construction will help improve this score.
