Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this advanced growing world, some people believe that all university students who have completed their bachelors should spend some time studying abroad or doing some work in own country. I agree with this statement as my perspectives is discussed further.

Firstly, one of the main reason studying aboard after undergraduates is gaining life experience. building own life living our comfort zone is necessary as it helps an individual to become independent. As a result, studying abroad helps a person to manage time. For instance, a person can learn about adjusting time for studies, job, paying rents and cooking food by own. Secondly, by studying in different universities abroad, a person will meet various kind of people with different culture and thoughts. Therefore, interacting with people can develop communication skills.

Finally, after graduating, doing internship or working at workplace helps a person to gain experience. As by working with colleagues one can understand the environment of the workplace. For example, sectors like healthcare working in hospitals is more important as a student can understand and gain knowledge from their seniors and professors.

However, studying abroad can be disadvantage too. Living a miles away from family might be difficult for individual to live as they miss family functions. Moreover, living alone may also lead a person to isolation and depression. Nevertheless, a person can be in contact with family and friends by regular video calls and messages.

In conclusion, although living away from family might be difficult for a person. I believe that studying abroad or doing a work in own country is beneficial a it develops a person's communication skills and helps a person to become independent. So I think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as gaining life experience and developing communication skills. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'healthcare' is mentioned but not fully explained in relation to the broader requirement of all undergraduate courses. The argument is generally well-supported, but some points, like the mention of 'isolation and depression', are introduced briefly without sufficient elaboration to reach a higher band. The conclusion effectively restates the position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Finally', and 'However' are used to guide the reader through the argument. While the progression is generally clear, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is mostly clear, though there are minor issues with sentence-level flow, such as the phrasing 'doing a work in own country', which slightly disrupts the cohesion of the argument. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and supports the logical development of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'internship', 'colleagues', and 'isolation'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'advanced growing world', 'doing a work', and 'living a miles away'. These errors do not impede communication, but they demonstrate a limited range of vocabulary that prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More precise and natural phrasing would improve the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the workplace', 'a work'), prepositions ('living a miles away'), and subject-verb agreement ('my perspectives is'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some sentence fragments or awkward constructions, such as 'As by working with colleagues one can understand...'. These errors are noticeable but rarely impede the reader's understanding of the main points.
