Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages. However, the position is not clearly stated in the introduction; you mention you will discuss both sides but do not explicitly state whether you believe the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the point about 'survival skills' is repetitive and lacks depth, and the argument regarding 'health' due to changing environments is slightly underdeveloped. To improve, ensure your position is clear from the start and provide more specific, logical examples to support your claims.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'sharing the farmer perspective' and 'discussing the latter one view' are confusing and do not effectively link ideas. Additionally, some sentences are poorly connected, making the flow feel disjointed. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that transitions logically to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word-choice errors, such as 'farmer perspective' (likely meant 'former'), 'pratial and theortical', and 'affoard adopt the different environment'. Spelling errors are frequent (e.g., 'affoard', 'confort', 'abard'). To improve, you should focus on learning collocations and ensuring correct spelling. Using more academic vocabulary instead of basic, repetitive terms will help you convey your ideas with greater clarity and sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'studying abroad help'), missing articles (e.g., 'in abroad'), and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'everyone can't affoard adopt'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with run-on sentences and incorrect comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors impacts the overall quality. To improve, practice complex sentence structures like conditionals or relative clauses and proofread carefully to correct basic subject-verb and article errors.
