Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to address the prompt regarding whether the advantages of studying abroad or doing a work placement outweigh the disadvantages. However, the position is difficult to discern due to disjointed arguments and a lack of clear development. While the writer touches on both employment benefits and personal growth, the ideas are limited and frequently under-developed. Sentences such as 'in my opinion studying undergraduate abroad is not an a easy role it hits complex dissimilar' fail to articulate a coherent viewpoint on the core question of advantages versus disadvantages. The response meets the minimum length requirement, but the overall task fulfilment aligns most closely with Band 4.0 because the ideas are expressed minimally and tangentially, making it hard to follow the main argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

Coherence and cohesion are severely compromised throughout the text. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical progression within paragraphs is largely absent. For example, the second paragraph abruptly jumps from professional employment to the author's brother going to the USA and UK, and then to learning how to cook food, which creates disjointed transitions. Cohesive devices are either misused or missing entirely, and referencing is frequently unclear. The reader struggles to follow how one sentence leads to the next, particularly given the frequent run-on sentences and lack of appropriate punctuation. These issues place the response firmly at Band 4.0 for this criterion, as information and ideas are not arranged coherently.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is very basic, repetitive, and often inaccurate, severely straining the reader's comprehension. The student relies heavily on simple words and phrases, attempting less common items with noticeable errors in collocation and word choice, such as 'profession employment', 'modify to their country nature', and 'optimse courses'. There are also frequent word-formation errors, like 'shiffting' and 'occuactions'. While the text contains enough vocabulary to attempt the task, the constant lexical inaccuracies and limited range mean it falls short of Band 5.0, fitting best into Band 4.0 where errors frequently obscure meaning and restrict the expression of ideas.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

Grammatically, the response demonstrates a very limited range of structures. The text is dominated by massive run-on sentences and comma splices, such as 'A good example that my brother went to some other country like USA and Uk the person was very adapt to their part-time work in the house they don't how to cook food but after shifiting they can do their all personal things.' Control over basic grammar and punctuation is weak, with frequent errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and clause linking. Because errors are frequent, pervasive, and often distort the intended meaning, the performance reflects the Band 4.0 descriptors.
