Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to address the prompt by expressing a clear position agreeing that studying abroad and doing work placements are beneficial. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The response relies heavily on general statements regarding 'experinces', 'skils', and 'higher income sources' without providing fully elaborated or sophisticated examples. While the main stance is discernible throughout the essay, the arguments tend to over-generalize, particularly regarding Indian students working abroad, which restricts the depth of the task response. Consequently, the performance aligns best with Band 5, where ideas are somewhat limited, under-developed, and repetitive.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates some organizational structure with distinct paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by poor sentence boundary punctuation and mechanical cohesive devices. Words like 'firstly', 'moreover', and 'secondly' are attempted, but their overuse and misuse, combined with erratic spacing and paragraph breaks, prevent smooth transitions of ideas. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun usage in 'so its better their. future'. Overall arrangement shows some basic organization, but cohesion is inadequate and repetitive, fitting the Band 5 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used throughout the essay is basic, repetitive, and marred by frequent spelling errors, such as 'aborad' for abroad, 'experines' for experiences, 'skils' for skills, and 'finacially indenpendent' for financially independent. The student attempts some less common terms like 'personal development', 'theoritical knowledge', and 'teamwork skills', but these are accompanied by noticeable lexical inaccuracies and misspellings that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and hinder smooth comprehension. The lexical range is minimally adequate for the task, which corresponds strictly to a Band 5 level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The student uses a mixture of simple and attempted complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is extremely weak. There are frequent errors in verb tense, subject-verb agreement, and basic sentence construction, such as 'In abroad colleges are said that courses should prefer the lots of time' and 'if student work or studing in abraod so its better their. future'. Punctuation is heavily flawed with spaces preceding commas and periods throughout the text. These frequent errors cause significant difficulty for the reader and restrict the grammatical performance to a Band 4.
