Student answer (Band 6.5)

International internships or excahnge programs for undergraduate students are becoming very common these days. As a result, poeple are being found in discussion about its effectiveness and challanges that can come with it to reach a conclusion if this addition is a good idea or not. In my opinion, going abroad for education or a work placement for a ceratin period of time is highly advantegous. This is because, it gives you broader career options and chance to adapt in multi-diverse society.

Going for an overseas study or an intership can give profound career and social benefits. When students go to an entirely different country, they learn about the new evolving trends and by actually spending time at work places prepare them to enter into the job market before they even started their career. Moreover, the interaction with people from diverse background is helpful in creating community ties and learning to adapt in this cosmopolitan world. For example, many universties in europe offers one semester exchange programs or interships for students from underdeveloping countries. In this way, many learners get more oppurtunities for their career development and learn about how to fit in a global village.

Some people argue that generating internships and other study oppurtunities for international students is quite challenging. While there concerns about the affordability and some other factors are genunine, they cannot outweigh the advantages that come with them. While, such projects requires massive funding and support from government in order to accommodate a large number of students, it is beneficial for economic and social development. For example, every year top universties like Harvard and MIT give scholarships to students around the world which can cover all of their expenses. As a result, these students join their companies as employees, playing a huge role in building a strong economy.

To conclude, international work placements and study programs are being included as a part of degree more frequently these days. It's highly advantageous both for social and economical growth. Meanwhile, there can be challenges while implementing they stil

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting a clear position throughout that the advantages of studying abroad or doing a work placement outweigh the disadvantages. Main ideas are extended and supported with relevant explanations and examples, such as reference to university exchange programs and scholarship models like Harvard and MIT. While some of the supporting details could be further deepened to reach a higher band, the overall development satisfies the requirements of a Band 7.0. The writer maintains a relevant focus on career benefits, social adaptation, and economic impacts without wandering off-topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing both sides and your stance, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, such as career benefits versus financial challenges. Cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'For example', and 'While' are generally used effectively to guide the reader through the argument. However, occasional mechanical transitions and minor referencing awkwardnesses appear, and the conclusion cuts off abruptly. Progression is clear overall, aligning well with the Band 6.5 to 7.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The candidate displays an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for an academic discussion, including terms like 'cosmopolitan world', 'career development', and 'economic and social development'. However, there are numerous spelling and lexical errors throughout the text, such as 'excahnge', 'poeple', 'challanges', 'advantegous', 'multi-diverse', 'intership', 'underdeveloping', 'oppurtunities', 'genunine', and 'requires' (referring to projects). These errors occasionally detract from the reading experience, though they rarely impede overall communication, placing this securely at a Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, successfully employing subordinate clauses and conditional constructions (e.g., 'When students go to an entirely different country, they learn...'). However, grammatical and punctuation errors are frequent, including missing articles, subject-verb agreement issues ('universties in europe offers'), dangling modifiers ('by actually spending time at work places prepare them'), and an incomplete final sentence ('while implementing they stil'). Because these errors persist across the response while complex structures are still attempted, a Band 6.0 is appropriate.
