Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response addresses the prompt regarding whether studying abroad or doing work placements has more advantages than disadvantages, touching on economic benefits and student work habits. However, the text is significantly under-length, containing only 161 words compared to the minimum requirement of 250 words. This severe under-length prevents any full development of ideas, leading to a partial and truncated treatment of the task. While a position is hinted at, the brevity and lack of supporting examples restrict the overall development. According to the task achievement descriptors, this falls squarely within the lower bands due to the limited development and incomplete completion of the task length requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5
The text lacks proper paragraphing entirely, being written as a single block of text which makes progression difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are minimal, relying mostly on repetitive basic conjunctions and phrases like 'onthe other side their have a bad things'. The logical flow between ideas is frequently disrupted by abrupt shifts in topic, moving from university courses to government tax collection and then to student visa issues without clear transitional scaffolding. Referencing is also unclear in places, such as pronouns whose antecedents are ambiguous. These structural deficiencies limit the organizational clarity of the writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently showing signs of lexical limitation and word choice errors. Examples include 'bachlor in commarce', 'bachlor in secience', and 'cash base'. There are numerous spelling mistakes throughout the text, such as 'study in abroad', 'studant', 'expences', 'goverment', 'pepare', 'attand', and 'diffecults problems'. The range of vocabulary is barely adequate to communicate the basic meaning, and these persistent lexical errors and spelling inaccuracies noticeably strain the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
Grammatical control is weak, with a very limited range of structures attempted. Most sentences contain frequent errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('different university provides', 'student dream', 'some student focus') and incorrect prepositions or articles ('in abroad', 'on the salary'). Complex structures are rarely attempted, and when they are, they are often faulty or run-on sentences, such as 'mostly universty allow student to work after the class , its a great advantages for the studant to doing a job after the class they earn some money...'. Punctuation is also poorly handled, with spaces incorrectly placed before commas.
