Student answer (Band 4.5)

It is often argued that all undergraduate students should be required to spend some time studying abroad or completing a work placement as part of their degree. Although this policy could create financial and academic challenges for some students, I believe that the advantages would outweigh the disadvantages because it would provide valuable practical experience and broaden students' horizons. This challegaing task for some students, beacuse they divided their time for studing and for their work.So in which many students who can do very easily , they can do every work on his time. But mostly students can't manage their work or a studies. They never manage their time for their studies or a work. In abroad that many international students

go to abroad to make better their finactional condition, And mostly students go abroad for complete their studies. In abroad their many benifites and rhe other way they many disadvantage. In disadvantages people go to abroad for their work or studies.so they never go back their own country where they lived. In abraod sent their time to how to make money and they take many important decision of their life. So in my point of this is the main disadvantage of abroad

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of studying abroad or doing a work placement. However, the position is only partially developed and becomes confusing as the text progresses. While the introductory paragraph clearly states an opinion, the body paragraphs wander into unfocused arguments about financial conditions and migration, failing to fully develop clear points. Furthermore, the response falls significantly short of the 250-word minimum, containing only 202 words. This under-length limitation directly impacts the level of idea development required for higher band scores, placing the response at a Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The organization of the essay is weak. Coherence is severely disrupted after the introductory paragraph. The transition into the body of the essay is abrupt, marked by phrases like 'This challegaing task for some students,' which does not connect logically to the prompt or previous sentence. Paragraphing is poorly handled, as the entire middle section runs together into a single, disjointed block of text rather than distinct paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as 'In abroad,' making the progression of ideas difficult to follow. Overall, the structural flaws prevent the response from achieving a higher band score.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive, with frequent errors in word choice and spelling that occasionally impede communication. Examples of non-standard usage include 'finactional condition' instead of financial situation, and frequent awkward repetitions of phrases like 'In abroad.' While the writer attempts to discuss complex topics such as financial conditions and decision-making, the restricted control of lexical items and numerous spelling mistakes ('challegaing', 'benifites', 'finactional', 'abraod') restrict the vocabulary score to a Band 4.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

Grammatical control is weak throughout the essay. The text contains a very limited range of structures, and attempts at complex sentences frequently result in serious structural errors and unintelligible clauses, such as 'So in which many students who can do very easily , they can do every work on his time.' Punctuation and sentence boundaries are often misused, with missing spaces after periods and comma splices. Errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions are frequent ('go to abroad', 'sent their time'), which causes considerable difficulty for the reader and pulls the grammatical score down to a Band 4.0.
