Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the task only partially, as it is significantly under the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, totaling only 184 words. While you attempt to express a position regarding whether the advantages of studying abroad or doing a work placement outweigh the disadvantages, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, you mention that these opportunities help students struggling with employment and lack of confidence, but you do not fully explore or extend these points. The conclusion and body paragraphs touch upon economic and international benefits, but the lack of thorough elaboration keeps the response at this band level. To move higher, you must meet the word count requirement and fully develop each of your main arguments with clear explanations and relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation in your response, with an introduction, body sections, and a concluding remark, but it lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, yet sentences often feel disjointed and lack smooth transitions. Cohesive devices are either inadequate or inaccurate, such as starting sentences with 'Admittedly,' 'because this oppportunity,' and 'However,' without strong logical links connecting the thoughts. For example, the transition between your partial agreement and the reasons provided is abrupt, making the overall argument difficult to follow seamlessly. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear central topic and use a wider range of cohesive devices more accurately to guide the reader logically through your arguments.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for addressing the topic. You attempt some less common words, such as 'literacy rates,' 'profession,' and 'international investors,' but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling, such as 'interships' instead of 'internships' and 'oppportunity' instead of 'opportunity.' Phrasing can also be awkward, such as 'lack of economics' instead of 'lack of financial resources' or 'economic support.' These vocabulary errors occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader in grasping your exact meaning. To reach a higher band, you should expand your range of vocabulary, pay closer attention to correct word forms and collocations, and minimize spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Your writing demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors when attempting more complex formations. There are frequent grammatical issues throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement errors like 'universities should provides', article misuse such as 'an extra course', and incorrect verb tenses or forms like 'he have no experenced'. Prepositions and word patterns within sentences are also frequently inaccurate, as seen in 'studying at international forum' instead of 'in international forums'. These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring correct verb agreements, and reducing grammatical errors in your complex sentences.
