Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, it is recommended that university curriculum must include mendatory time for work placement or studying at foreign lands. I firmly agree with the idea on the grounds that such inititatives give international exposure to the students and provide across-the-border job opportunities.
One of the primary benefits is that students get a chance to study and work with people from vastly different backgrounds. This in turn, allows them to have an open-minded view of the world, making them comfortable working with people from vast cultural diversity. For example, the universities of the UK are known all around the world for their ethnic diversity. Consequently, their students learn to cope with the racial and cultural differences. Not only does this exposure make students tolerant, it also makes them empathize with other nations. United Nations regularly employ students with previous experience dealing with foreigners.
Another advantage of such programms is that students get to know about work culture of differnet nations. This practical experience enhances their chances of employment at global level. Multinational organizations are famous for hiring graduates with international degress or work placement experience at differnet companies. Business Schools make their students work at different practical projects, without which students cannot graduate. These project highlight their abilities to perform and generate result. That is the reason business school graduates are regularly hired by the companies.
In conclusion, study abroad or work placement is highly beneficial for students in terms of enhancing their employability alongwith making them comfortable with cultural and racial differences. Universities should most definitely include these activities in their curriculum.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position regarding whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as international exposure, job opportunities, and cross-cultural understanding. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the paragraph on work culture introduces multinational organizations and business school projects, but the connection between the projects and global employment is somewhat generalized and lacks deeper extension. To reach a higher level, all main ideas need to be fully elaborated with robust support and specific, well-explained examples throughout every body paragraph rather than relying on brief assertions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and a summarizing conclusion. Progression is visible as the writer moves from cultural tolerance to career benefits. However, cohesion at times feels mechanical or repetitive, utilizing standard transitional devices such as 'One of the primary benefits is that' and 'Another advantage of such programms is that'. Referencing is generally adequate, but paragraphing could be managed with greater flexibility to link related points smoothly. To progress further, the writer should employ a wider and more natural variety of cohesive devices and ensure that transitions between sentences flow seamlessly without relying on formulaic templates.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the writer's arguments. The student attempts less common lexical items, such as 'international exposure', 'cross-border job opportunities', and 'multinational organizations'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occasionally distract the reader, including 'mendatory' instead of mandatory, 'inititatives' instead of initiatives, 'programms' instead of programmes, and 'differnet' instead of different. Additionally, phrases like 'practical projects' could be phrased with greater precision. To achieve a higher score, the writer must eliminate spelling errors and demonstrate a more precise, flexible control of less common vocabulary and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional and relative clauses. There are some grammatical errors in article usage, prepositions, and word forms, such as 'studying at foreign lands' instead of 'in foreign lands', employment at 'global level' instead of 'a global level', and 'generate result' instead of 'generate results'. Despite these errors, meaning is rarely impeded, and communication remains clear. To reach the next level, the writer needs to increase the frequency of error-free complex sentences, maintain consistent control over singular and plural noun agreements, and refine prepositional patterns.
