Student answer (Band 6.0)

In contemporary world, every university bachelor courses should include a specific time spending on studying overseas or doing a work to get hired. Although, this trend has several drawbacks, I believe the benefits outweigh them in the long run.

Firstly, introducing a special time for abroad studies and placement could effect every student diffferently. Students may not concentrate on their regular studies as they are busy in further study program planning. As a result, they are only thinking about future rather than living in present. Another outcome can be mental stress and anxiety. They may feel burden of doing great in current academics, as they want better college or university in further studies. For example, Last year, one of my friend preparing for his higher studies, beside last year of his college. In mid term, he took too much stress and did not perform well in his last semester. As a result, he got failed and now he have to wait one more year to graduate.

Secondly, on other side, it also put very possitive impact on student as they become self independent to manage things and stress. Spending such amount of time can provide them better opportunities to get job after graduation, alongside it can also help them in higher studies. If they are planning for placement, such amount of time could help them in long run to search better job roles. Also higher studies preparations could help them in clear communications and knowledge of different areas. For example, I started my planning of placement in 7th semester and my university also allowed specific 6 hours each week for preparation. As a result, This helped me to get more focused on reasoning tests as well as help in communication, and in end, I got placed in well known company.

In conclusion, allowing specific time for placement and higher studies work in undergrduate programs by university could cause students stress, anxiety and bad academic performance. However, It has benefits such as better employment, communication and knowledge, which will outweigh the drawbacks in the long run.

Overall6.0

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of including studying abroad or work placements in undergraduate courses, and presents a clear position. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. The negative impact on academic performance is supported with an example about a friend, but the discussion of stress and anxiety remains somewhat general and repetitive. Similarly, the arguments concerning career benefits are introduced clearly, as seen in the personal example about preparing for placement in the 7th semester, but the explanation of how higher studies preparations aid communication is slightly vague. To move to a higher level, all main points need equal extension and deeper elaboration throughout the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and the four-paragraph structure is used appropriately. Ideas are sequenced logically, moving from potential drawbacks to advantages. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. Transition markers such as "Firstly", "Secondly, on other side", and "In conclusion" are utilised, but referencing and logical links within paragraphs occasionally feel abrupt. For instance, the transition between discussing mental stress and providing the personal example in the second paragraph lacks a smooth bridging sentence. Improving the flow of referencing and ensuring seamless transitions between sentences would enhance the overall progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as "contemporary world", "drawbacks", and "employment". However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice and collocations, such as "bachelor courses" instead of "bachelor's degrees", "spending on studying" instead of "spent studying", and "put very possitive impact" instead of "have a very positive impact". There are also minor spelling slips, such as "diffferently" and "possitive". These lexical errors and awkward word formations do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the score, as precise control over collocation and word formation is required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional and relative clauses. There are, however, some errors in grammar and punctuation that occur throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like "every university bachelor courses should include", incorrect article usage such as "one of my friend", and tense or preposition errors including "beside last year of his college" and "he got failed and now he have to wait". Punctuation slips, such as comma splices and capitalization errors after commas, are also present. These errors rarely impede communication, but the presence of persistent grammatical inaccuracies prevents the writing from achieving a higher rating.
