Student answer (Band 5.0)

A short period of time spent studying abroad or doing a work placement are being the most increased need of the undergraduate students to add these in their courses. Though there are a few disadvantages, I believed the advantages of this would outweigh the disadvantages.

On the one hand, if we are looking for the later period of a graduate student's, we can understand that most of them are being suffer to select the right ways. Actually, most of them are failed to do a work placement because most of the organizations require a minimum years of experience. Also, if anyone wants to complete their higher studies from abroad it is seen from the research that they don't even have clear idea or the following stages to move forward. As a result, after their graduation they suffer from depression, indecision and several psychological factors. Therefore, it is high time to make it compulsory to include these types of coursework into undergraduate courses.

On the other hand, there are a few disadvantages such as, some students may misuse the use of work placement history. Besides, the extra credits sometime leads extra tension or more panics to the students. Additionally, the financial condition of all the students are not same. As a result, if there are a needs to financial factor to study abroad as a pertially of the coursework they can not do it.

In conclusion, I think there are disadvantages that can not outweigh the disadvantages but there are reasons and support behind the advantages. By adding or making the coursework compulsory, students will surely be benefited.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

Your response sits at this band because it addresses the task only partially. While you manage to present a position and touch upon both the advantages and disadvantages of studying abroad or doing a work placement, your ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, when discussing disadvantages, you vaguely mention that 'some students may misuse the use of work placement history' without providing clear explanation or examples. Furthermore, your response fails to meet the length requirement, containing only 247 words, which is slightly short of the minimum 250-word mark. To reach a higher level, you must fully develop your arguments with well-supported extensions and ensure you meet the minimum word count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

Your response achieves this level because it demonstrates some basic organization, including clear paragraphing with introductory and concluding remarks, but lacks a clear overall progression. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand', but these are handled somewhat mechanically. In addition, referencing is not always clear, particularly in sentences like 'if there are a needs to financial factor to study abroad as a pertially of the coursework they can not do it', which disrupts the logical flow of ideas. To improve, you need to ensure that your sentences flow smoothly from one to the next with more natural and accurate cohesive links.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your response sits at this band due to a limited and minimally adequate range of vocabulary for this task. You attempt some less common vocabulary, such as 'psychological factors' and 'compulsory', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, form, and collocation, such as 'being suffer', 'minimus years', and 'pertially'. These lexical slips and awkward expressions occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader in grasping your precise meaning. To move up, you should expand your control of word forms and collocations, aiming to use academic terminology more naturally and accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Your response is characterised by a limited range of structures and frequent grammatical errors. Although you attempt some complex sentences, these attempts are often faulty, featuring persistent errors in subject-verb agreement, verb forms, and articles. Examples include 'are being the most increased need', 'most of them are failed', and 'sometime leads extra tension'. These frequent mistakes cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak control over basic and complex grammatical patterns alike. To achieve a higher score, you must work on reducing basic grammatical errors and produce a wider mix of error-free complex sentences.
