Student answer (Band 5.0)

I completely agree with the statement that it should be compulsory in universities undergraduate course should spent a specific time for a higher studies in abroad or doing a job or internship. The universities student will gain the exposure weather it is a higher studies in abroad or doing a job to gain the experience.

Firstly, I think this statement is a great move for the universities. Students will gain a exposure in studing abroad. They exchange the knowledge, culture and the most thing is they travel to the another country. The students get to know that how the different university accross the globe teaches you as the international student. Meanwhile the other idea is that the univeristies should make it compulsory for students to get a practical experience in industries or companies related to your course study. During the internship students will gain a practical exposure related to their degree and get to implement their academic knowledge into a workplace.

Likewise, in Paksitan there would be a facility for students to work abroad or doing a job in your home country. In our university students will transfer their degree to another university across the world. In universities, job fairs also held every year and the student who are academically strong companies will hire them. So this is the great opportunity for the students.

If we talk about the advantages and disadvantages of the statement. In my opinion, there is no such disadvantage of studying abroad or doing a job. Furthermore, it is advantage for students to studied abroad and doing a job.

In conclusion, the univerisities should considered this idea to sent the students for a higher studies in abroad and also held a job fairs every year for the students whose want a practical expereince in industry.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially. While the student takes a clear position by expressing total agreement with the statement, the ideas presented remain limited and under-developed. For example, the student mentions that students gain exposure in studying abroad and doing internships, but these points are not sufficiently extended or supported with clear explanations or robust examples. The discussion regarding advantages and disadvantages is superficial, stating that 'there is no such disadvantage,' which prevents a balanced exploration of the prompt. To move to a higher level, the writer should ensure all parts of the prompt are fully explored, with well-supported arguments and fully developed ideas rather than generalised statements.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation with the use of paragraphs and simple transition signals like 'Firstly,' and 'In conclusion,' however, the response lacks a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or repetitive, such as the repeated phrases 'doing a job' and 'studying abroad' appearing frequently without effective substitution or referencing. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical flow within paragraphs is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of thoughts smoothly. To achieve a higher score, the student needs to employ a wider range of cohesive devices naturally and ensure that each paragraph builds logically upon the previous one with clear referencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'compulsory,' 'practical experience,' and 'exposure,' but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as 'universities undergraduate course should spent' and 'higher studies in abroad.' Additionally, spelling and morphological errors occur frequently throughout the essay, including 'weather' instead of 'whether,' 'accross,' 'univeristies,' and 'expereince.' These errors occasionally cause difficulty and strain for the reader. To improve in this criterion, the writer must expand their lexical range and pay closer attention to correct word forms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and repetitive patterns. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to frequent grammatical errors that cause difficulty for the reader. There are widespread issues with subject-verb agreement, verb forms, and articles, such as in the opening sentence: 'it should be compulsory in universities undergraduate course should spent a specific time for a higher studies in abroad.' Punctuation and preposition usage within grammatical patterns also show persistent inaccuracy. To reach a higher band, the student must produce a greater variety of error-free complex structures and improve their control over basic grammar, tense consistency, and syntactic agreement.
