Student answer (Band 6.0)

Addition of study abroad or work placement in the courses outline of undergraduate is one of the biggest question for all universities. Both having and not having has its pros and cons but i firmly believes that having those things as a part of courses outline is definitely worth it.

On the one hand, many univerties believes that adding exchange programs and work experiences in course outline will disturb students actual courses causing more burden for them and eventually lead them to drop out the universities. Futhermore, the acceptance rate of undergraduate students in industries and univerties for abroad study and work experience like internship is very low. Also these procedure took a lot of efforts both in time and money. So to keep courses simple and understandable univerties avoid the idea of abroad study and work placement to save money and time. Despite these advantages, they still miss the point of practical implementation and experiences of abroad studies.

On the other hand, addition of abroad study and work placement gives the student a more practical and dynamic idea of what the they are studing in the universities. Moerover, through these drills students get to know different people and cultures which help them for developing their own personality. For example, the univerties having more extra curricular activities produces more innovative and firm personality students then others. Through these experiences student is much more confident and practical in his or her professional life.

In conclusion, in-short term having just a simple course outline might save some money and time, but for the long term it fails to provide the some indispenable qualities. So, all univerties should add times for abroad study and work placement in their undergraduate courses.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of including study abroad or work placements in undergraduate courses, and it presents a clear position throughout. The arguments are relevant, though some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the paragraph outlining the disadvantages touches upon several points—such as disruption to actual courses, low acceptance rates, and high costs—without fully extending or supporting each one in depth. Conversely, the advantages section provides a clearer view of personal development, supported by an attempt at exemplification. To reach a higher band, the ideas would need more thorough expansion and deeper support rather than moving quickly from one point to another.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and the body paragraphs are separated logically into opposing viewpoints. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. Transition markers are used, but referencing is not always completely clear, such as in sentences where pronouns or logical links feel slightly abrupt. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to structure the debate, but the progression of ideas within paragraphs could be smoother and better connected. To improve further, a more flexible and natural use of cohesive devices is required, along with tighter referencing to ensure seamless flow from one point to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to use less common items and subject-specific terms such as 'exchange programs', 'internship', and 'indispensable qualities'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occur throughout the response, such as 'univerties' instead of 'universities', 'outlines' or 'outline', 'Futhermore', and 'in-short term'. These lexical errors and awkward collocations do not heavily impede communication, but they reflect a lower band limitation. To achieve a higher score, a wider range of vocabulary must be handled with greater precision and control, while minimizing spelling and word-form inaccuracies.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms to convey their arguments. There are several error-free sentences, but errors in grammar, articles, and punctuation persist throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'many univerties believes', missing articles such as 'in short term', and mechanical punctuation errors like missing spaces after periods. These errors rarely impede communication, placing the grammatical control comfortably in the mid-range. To move to the next level, the writer needs to produce more frequent error-free sentences while demonstrating a better command of complex structures, prepositions inside grammatical patterns, and article usage.
