Student answer (Band 5.0)

As education is important for every person who live in this world. It makes people aware of many things that we are unable to understand. but education we are getting must be a valuable education who teach us different types of skills, practical works and other activities that make person fit phycally and mentally.

Our education system is under development, there is alot of efforts need to fit our education system as compare to abroad education system. we also need a work experience before geeting any job. After graduation, where ever you go for job, they want a work experiment so work placement is also a good option for undergraduate students.

In my opinion, there is an advantage for undergraduate students if learn courses from abroad. Education system of abroab country is much better than our country. For example, our education system only teaches how we can memorize everything without understanding and concepts. but in abroad, they teaches their students about the concepts and logic behind that topic. This is a reason the Noble prize winning professor is mostly from abroad rather than from our country.

Every person who is studing in different universities just want better future and to achieve her goals by getting a dream job. For example, after completing their degree and went for job, they require a work experience for achieving that job but mostly students don't have a work experience as there is no courses during their undergraduate degree like interships programs and like that. In my opinion work placement is very important during degree.

Many people thinks that going abroad is very expensive and troubleshooting for family. Also people thinks that after degree they will get a job easily without any work experience but it is not true.

People should try their best for going to abroad for studing their undergraduate courses for their better future and also doing different types of volunteers works , interships and other social works related to their degree in order to get a dream job in future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the task only partially, presenting a position that is somewhat unclear and shifting. While the student touches on both studying abroad and work placements, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the argument that the education system abroad is better because 'Noble prize winning professor is mostly from abroad' is a sweeping generalisation that lacks proper support or clear elaboration. Similarly, the discussion around work experience is repetitive, as the point about needing internships is raised multiple times without being extended into deeper analysis. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to present a fully developed position with well-supported arguments for both aspects of the prompt, rather than relying on brief, disconnected assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation in the essay, but it lacks a clear overall progression from introduction to conclusion. Paragraphing is attempted, but paragraph boundaries are sometimes blurred by abrupt shifts in topic, such as jumping between domestic education systems and international study without smooth transitions. Cohesive devices are used rather inadequately or inaccurately; phrases like 'For example' and 'In my opinion' are over-used in a mechanical fashion to start new points, and referencing is often unclear, as seen in pronouns that lack distinct antecedents. To achieve higher coherence, the writer must ensure that ideas flow logically from one sentence to the next, using a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices to guide the reader smoothly through the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic ideas. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'underdevelopment' and 'internships', but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as 'geeting', 'abroab', 'studing', and 'work experiment' instead of work experience. Spelling and morphological mistakes occur frequently throughout the text, which occasionally causes some difficulty for the reader and obscures precision. To improve this criterion, the student must expand their control of word forms and collocations, ensuring accurate spelling and selecting vocabulary that precisely fits the academic context without relying on repetitive phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside poorly controlled complex attempts. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles, such as 'education who teach us', 'alot of efforts need', 'abroad country is much better', and 'went for job'. Punctuation is also problematic, with missing capitalisation at the beginning of sentences and run-on structures that hinder readability. These frequent errors cause strain for the reader. To reach the next level, the writer needs to demonstrate a greater variety of complex sentence forms with a high proportion of error-free structures, paying closer attention to basic grammatical rules like article usage and verb agreement.
