Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the task only partially. While the writer attempts to discuss whether studying abroad or doing a work placement is beneficial, the position is not always clearly sustained due to tangential arguments. The ideas are limited and frequently under-developed. For instance, the mention of students working "two days for weeks" or "24 hours for seven days" lacks clear reasoning and wanders into immigration and work restriction topics rather than focusing strictly on the academic and developmental aspects of the prompt. Furthermore, some assertions are repetitive and lack adequate supporting evidence from relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation with the use of introductory phrases such as "To begain with", "On the other hand", and "To conclude", but the text lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical flow within paragraphs is frequently disrupted by abrupt transitions and unclear referencing. Cohesive devices are often inadequate or repetitive, leading to mechanical connections between sentences. For example, sentences in the second body paragraph shift abruptly from Canadian student priorities to general work hours without establishing a clear logical bridge.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices that cause some difficulty for the reader, such as "studing", "perposed", "eran", "lifestlye", and "puplis". The writer attempts less common vocabulary, but issues with word form, collocation, and spelling persist throughout the essay. Phrases like "high level of college nither work in high salaries job" demonstrate a struggle to control precise lexical meaning, straining the reader's comprehension.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple or poorly formed complex sentences. Frequent errors occur across verb forms, tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and articles. Examples include "many university including a period", "studying abroad it given opportunity", and "government sholud lunched the notice". Attempts at complex clauses often result in faulty structures and distorted meanings. Punctuation control is also weak, with run-on sentences and misplaced capitalisation that frequently impede communication.
