Student answer (Band 6.0)

All fields of study at university level should have specific time period for abroad study or practical work experience in market. It has several advantages as well as disadvantages. Benefits include exposure to new technology, revolution in ideas and work experience that is plus point for job hunting after study while difficulty or expenses in visa process as well as time management along with study are some drawbacks associated with this. But according to my perspective, it is more beneficial in many aspects as compare to disadvantages it causes.

Universities should pay focus on arranging trips to abroad for work experience or in current market. It will help students to get familiar with emerging technologies that are used by experts in their field area. While working in current market during their study period, they will able to understand practical work rather than just theoretical concepts. Moreover, this will give a new thinking direction to their brains. Ultimately, it will lead to more generative ideas with regard to their field of study. In addition to this, it will help them to upgrade their curriculum vitae by adding work experience that will enable them to get a high quality job just after the study.

This additional opportunity also have some negative points like difficulty in visa process. More time and expenses will be required. Also students will face problems in time management as carrying both study and practical work at a same time will lead to hectic routine as well as mental distress. But these issues can be managed with proper course planning by organization. Also it will offer more advantages as compare to drawbacks.

In conclusion, offering work opportunities during study period will be advantageous in terms of new technology learning, ideas generation as well as work experience. Although troubling visa process, expenses and time management are some obstacles but it can be manageable.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you believe the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, and you address both sides of the question. The benefits—exposure to technology, practical learning, idea development and improved employment prospects—are relevant and supported with explanations, particularly the contrast between practical work and theoretical study. However, some points are asserted rather than developed: for example, “a new thinking direction” and “more generative ideas” are not illustrated with a specific example. The disadvantages are also listed, but their impact is only briefly explained before you say they can be managed through course planning. To strengthen the response, explain how placements could be organised and give a concrete example of how students benefit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, the second paragraph develops benefits, the third considers drawbacks, and the conclusion restates your position. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “In addition to this,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main sequence. However, some connections feel mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is not always precise. For instance, “Universities should pay focus on arranging trips” shifts from the general argument to a recommendation without a clear transition, while “Also it will offer more advantages” repeats the central claim rather than advancing the discussion. Use referencing more clearly and connect each example to the point it supports; this would make progression smoother and less repetitive.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “emerging technologies,” “practical work,” “theoretical concepts,” “curriculum vitae,” and “mental distress.” These choices allow you to discuss both academic and employment-related benefits. You also attempt less common expressions, but some are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “revolution in ideas,” “more generative ideas,” and “high quality job.” Phrases including “work experience in market” and “new thinking direction” also make the intended meaning less precise, although it remains understandable. Aim for natural collocations and more exact wording—for example, describe placements as developing “innovative ideas” or gaining “industry experience.” Proofreading for word forms and article use in set phrases would further improve fluency.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while,” “as,” and “although.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and the contrast between benefits and drawbacks is generally clear. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction. For example, “This additional opportunity also have” should use a verb agreeing with the singular subject, and “they will able to understand” is missing an auxiliary. In “carrying both study and practical work,” the structure is not grammatically parallel. Review these patterns and check articles and prepositions in phrases such as “at the same time.” Greater accuracy in these recurring structures would make your complex sentences more controlled.
