Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the contemporay world, all undergraduate colleges should provide specific lectures for students to help them for abroad study planning or helping for jobs. I think the advantages of providing such type of sessions outwigh the disadvantages. Arranging lectures to guide university students for higher education planning in early stages, helps them to make clear vision about career. Supporting for placement work prior to the interview help the students to build confidence.

Firstly, many undergraduate students are confuse when they are in final year of their studies. Whether to go for postgraduation or to get placements. If universities provide good guidance to the students, then students can get more ideas about there professional journey. During college years students don't have much time to do reasearch on future goals, due to tight schedule of college. If university is able to arrange sessions on career guidance, then it will helpful for students to attain as it include in the college schedule.

On the other hand, many students are unaware about differents types of opportunities after the completion of undergraduation. Which may reduce the chances of getting good college for masters in the other country due to lack of knowledge about universities, application process and enrolment process, documentation required to get an admission, visa process. Whereas, reduces the chances of getting high paying jobs due to lack interview preparation and confidence.

In conclusion, including lectures for students on career guidance for futher studies in abroad or helping for placements had more benefits. Such as clear vision abou career, helps to achieve targeted goals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You give a clear opinion that the benefits outweigh the disadvantages, and you mention relevant outcomes such as career direction, confidence, and access to postgraduate study or employment. However, the response only partially addresses the actual proposal: the task asks about students spending time abroad or completing a work placement, whereas your essay mainly argues for universities to provide guidance lectures. This changes the focus and leaves the central advantages and disadvantages of the placements themselves largely unexplored. The ideas about limited time for research and unfamiliar application processes are relevant to guidance, but they need to be connected to the experience of studying or working abroad. To strengthen the response, discuss both benefits and drawbacks of those experiences and support your position with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad structure. However, the progression is not consistently logical: the second body paragraph begins with students’ lack of awareness, then shifts to consequences without clearly developing a contrasting disadvantage. Some links are also awkward or incomplete, as in “Which may reduce the chances…” and “Whereas, reduces the chances…”. The conclusion repeats the main claim but does not bring the discussion together. Build each paragraph around one clear point, explain how it supports your position, and use linking expressions only where the relationship between ideas is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “career guidance,” “application process,” “enrolment process,” and “interview preparation,” which makes the general subject understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “specific lectures,” “placement work,” and “clear vision about career.” Spelling errors, including “contemporay,” “outwigh,” and “reasearch,” also detract from control. Some phrases are difficult to interpret precisely, particularly “helping for jobs” and “attain as it include in the college schedule.” Aim for more precise language connected to the task, such as “work placement,” “international study experience,” and “career prospects,” and check spelling and common word combinations during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and longer sentences, including conditional forms such as “If universities provide good guidance… then students can get more ideas.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some relationships unclear. For example, “Arranging lectures… helps them” has an awkward subject construction, while “many undergraduate students are confuse” has incorrect agreement and form. The fragments “Whether to go for postgraduation…” and “Which may reduce the chances…” are not complete sentences, and “Whereas, reduces the chances…” lacks a clear subject. Work on complete sentence structure, subject–verb agreement, and articles, then proofread punctuation and sentence boundaries. Clearer, shorter sentences would help communicate your ideas more reliably.
