Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a position—that the advantages are greater—and give two related points about academic preparation and future employment. However, the response only minimally addresses the actual proposal: studying abroad or completing a work placement. Most of the discussion instead concerns having a strong undergraduate foundation, so the examples do not explain how overseas study or workplace experience creates the claimed benefits. The disadvantages are mentioned only in the introduction and conclusion, without any explanation. The example about Ram’s previous academic results is also unclear and does not support the specific proposal. The response is 231 words, 19 words below the required minimum; this limits the space available to develop relevant reasons and examples. Focus each body paragraph on a distinct advantage or disadvantage of the proposed experience.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The sequence from academic benefits to job opportunities is understandable, and signposts such as “first” and “Another” help identify the paragraphs’ purposes. However, progression within the paragraphs is often difficult to follow because several claims are repeated or loosely connected. For example, the second body paragraph moves from academic foundations to applying theory, then to career prospects, without clearly showing how these points relate to studying abroad or work placement. Linking phrases such as “However” and “while” do not always express the relationship between the ideas accurately. To improve, organise each paragraph around one clear point, explain it step by step, and use references and connectors only where their meaning is precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some vocabulary relevant to education and employment, including “undergraduate courses,” “job opportunities,” “academic,” and “working informative knowledge.” However, the range is basic and repetitive, and frequent spelling and word-choice problems make parts of the response difficult to understand. Examples include “abrod,” “polacement,” “benifit,” and “career station”; phrases such as “recovery the initially information” and “good for the undergraduate base” are also unclear or unnatural. These issues sometimes strain the reader’s effort to identify your intended meaning. Build a more precise set of expressions for the task, such as terms for international study, practical experience, and employability, and check spelling and collocations. Avoid repeating “good” when a more specific description would communicate your point.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt a few longer sentence forms, including a contrast with “while” and a conditional idea beginning “if student have,” but most sentences rely on simple patterns, and the longer attempts are often inaccurate. Errors in agreement and verb forms appear in “many student can take” and “this statement have”; articles and plurals are also frequently missing or misused, as in “the student” and “both advantage.” Some sentence structures obscure meaning, particularly “they do not extra time invest in the undergraduate level courses.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including lowercase sentence openings and the run-on sequence in the first body paragraph. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled clauses, checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
