Do you think the advantages of this would outweigh the disadvantages?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In undergraduate studies, there should be a period of time in which students can do internships or jobs related to their field or go to foreign country and complete at least one semester abroad. Adaptation of this strategy by all universities would result in producing market ready graduates.
Exposure to different environments helps grow students.Spending all years of undergad at a single university and studying theory with no implementation cause students struggle after graduation, when they are exposed to market or industry. Undergrad exchange programs with top ranking universities make a student, experience well-equipped labs and work on real world projects alongside getting to learn from high class faculty. Doing multiple internships in early undergrad years help students choose their specialization field more easily as they get real hands on experience in industry and get to know what interests them most. Universities should sign MOUs with companies and organizations to provide internship opportunities to their students.
According to my view, and given above points, the pros of doing work during undergrad or going abroad for a semester are more compared to its cons. Some students may not perform very well in their exams if they work besides study or change of curriculum, environment and culture when going abroad, may affect some students negatively, but still the exeprience and exposure obtained through above strategy can compensate such students in real industry.
One of my seniors at university went to US under fullbright undergrad exchange program and got to study a whole semester at 3 different universities. When he came back to Pakistan I could see noteworthy improvements in his personality and skills. He was lot more confident than before and has started to earn thorugh his full stack web development skill.
To conclude, universities should have rules and regulations for providing students with real work experience and establishing student exchange programs. In this way, after graduatioon students would have idea of market and can easily get jobs.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you believe the benefits of placements and overseas study outweigh the drawbacks, and you address both options in the prompt. The discussion of practical experience, specialist choice and exposure to different universities is relevant, while the example of your senior studying in the US gives the argument a personal illustration. This meets the task well, with some elements showing the development expected at a stronger level. However, the disadvantages are only briefly acknowledged—exam performance and cultural or curricular adjustment—and are not explored or weighed in much detail. The claim that experience can compensate for these difficulties also needs clearer explanation. Develop this counterargument and connect each example more explicitly to why the advantages outweigh it.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a paragraph stating your judgement and acknowledging drawbacks, a personal example, and a conclusion. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. Some linking is effective, such as “but still” when returning to your position. However, progression within paragraphs is occasionally loose: the first body paragraph moves from theory and practical work to exchange programmes and internships without clearly signalling how these points relate. The personal example is also somewhat detached from the preceding discussion. Use clearer topic sentences and transitions to show the relationship between claims and evidence, and avoid relying on repeated references such as “above points” and “this strategy.”
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “internships,” “exchange programs,” “real-world projects,” “specialization,” and “industry.” These terms help communicate your ideas about university and employment, and phrases such as “hands-on experience” show an attempt to use natural, specific language. Some less common expressions are inaccurate or awkward, however: “market ready graduates,” “high class faculty,” and “earn through his full stack web development skill” do not sound natural in this context. There are also spelling errors, including “exeprience,” “thorugh,” and “graduatioon.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision. Check spelling carefully and learn common academic collocations so your vocabulary sounds more controlled and idiomatic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if they work besides study” and a relative clause in “a period of time in which students can do internships.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction, agreement, articles and punctuation. For example, “studying theory with no implementation cause students struggle” has problems with subject–verb agreement and the verb pattern; “go to foreign country” needs an article; and “a student, experience” contains an unnecessary comma and an incorrect verb form. Some sentences also combine several ideas without clear grammatical control. Practise checking agreement, articles and verb patterns, and divide long sentences where needed. This will make your varied structures more accurate and easier to read.
