All university undergraduate courses should include a period of time spent studying abroad or doing a work placement.

Do you think the advantages of this would outweigh the disadvantages?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

All University Bachelors degree outlines should provide a proportion of their time to spend on internship. There are several advantages of this move,Like a student can transform their theory knowledge to practial field and also working in an industrial environment may help them to develop their communication skill.

Focusing on the main advantage of giving the students the opportunity of converting their class theory to real practial work. Cause throughout their whole undergraduate study time they have good amount of class and lots of credit to cover, during that period it is quite difficult for a student to finsh all the necessary study materials. So if a student has a chance of this work placement inside his dedicated undergraduate program it is very benefical to them.By doing practial work related to his study help a student to polish his bookish knowledge and also built an inner confidence. I have had a friend who went to internship in his last semester and he found it very crucial for his future career.

Another most important advantage is that working with major related professionals as colleagues may help a student to get used to that working environment. They could get assists and tips from their seniors like how to manage things properly. So for these things the student find his comfortzone after time passes and he may able to show his full productivity in future work.Cause a suitable atmosphere is imperative for the workers to enjoy their working hours.as an exmaple my university professor told me that getting used to a working place can increase the overall output significantly.

In conclusion, after having these vital advantages i dont found any negative reason to oppose this.i think this system should be applied in the all upcoming courses.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You take a clear position in favour of including work placements, and both body paragraphs give relevant benefits: applying classroom knowledge and becoming familiar with a professional environment. The personal examples—a friend’s internship and your professor’s comment—also support the topic. However, the response addresses the task only partially because it does not discuss studying abroad, and it gives little consideration to possible disadvantages before concluding that there are none. The benefits are asserted more than fully explained; for instance, the link between workplace familiarity and “full productivity” could be developed with a specific explanation. To strengthen the response, address both placement options and weigh at least one realistic drawback against the benefits.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two paragraphs presenting advantages, and a conclusion. Each body paragraph focuses on a related main idea, which helps the reader follow the general argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and linking expressions are repetitive or awkward. For example, “Cause” begins sentences in both body paragraphs, while “So for these things” does not clearly show how the preceding point leads to the next. Some references, such as “this” in the conclusion, are broad. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each explanation and example explicitly to its main point. A paragraph considering disadvantages would also make the overall argument more balanced and complete.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “work placement,” “undergraduate,” “professionals,” and “productivity,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several word choices, collocations, and spelling errors make the expression imprecise, such as “practial,” “credit to cover,” “get assists,” and “comfortzone.” Repetition of “student,” “work,” and “advantage” also limits flexibility. Aim to use more accurate academic collocations and check spelling and word forms. For example, describe applying “theoretical knowledge in practice” and receiving “guidance” from experienced colleagues. More precise vocabulary would help communicate your ideas smoothly and reduce the effort required from the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including conditional forms such as “if a student has a chance” and clauses explaining possible outcomes. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty; frequent errors sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to follow. Examples include “By doing practial work related to his study help a student,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “i dont found any negative reason,” where the verb form is incorrect. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “the student find his comfortzone.” Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check tense, agreement, capitalization, and punctuation before submitting.
