Student answer (Band 6.0)

The syllabus of educational institution should contain a specific time period of foreign study or job placement. I argue that the merits of this largely outweigh the demerits because students get to meet different people and also they become familiar with the real industry of their respective field.

The first advantages of university adding foreign studies is that the student meets with the people from various countries who shares different views. This helps to broaden their knowledge and cope with the unfamiliar environment in foreign soil. They take the ideas on how things can be done in unique ways rather than just focusing on their traditional beliefs. For example, many undergraduate college takes their students to the foreign universities where they have the opportunities to learn new ideas and things to try on different approaches. These times spent will be added to their credit hours as a part of fulfillment of their courses.

Additionally, university courses should offer a job internship for a high performing students to assist them in coping with the real life experience . Graduates become familiar with the work cultures and can use their skills in a better way. It also helps student to sharpen their capabilities and open more door to the better opportunities that may arrive in their way .For instance, Kathmandu university has partnered with the different organizations and companies to boost the overall performance of their qualified students.

To conclude, the advantages of all universities content should focus on adding the credit hours of studying abroad and doing a job placement outweigh the disadvantages. This is because students get familiar with the outside nations and the functioning of job markets around them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you believe the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, and the conclusion restates this view. You address both study abroad and work placement, giving relevant benefits such as exposure to different perspectives and familiarity with workplace culture. The examples of university exchanges and Kathmandu University add some support. However, the response focuses almost entirely on advantages and does not explain any disadvantages or why they are outweighed, despite this being central to the question. Some points also need fuller explanation: for example, how meeting people from other countries improves students’ future academic or professional outcomes. Develop both sides of the comparison and connect each example more explicitly to your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate benefits, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Additionally,” “For example,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the main progression, and each paragraph has a recognisable focus. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some stronger control through paragraph organisation. However, the progression is not fully balanced because both body paragraphs add advantages without addressing the disadvantages in the prompt. Some links are also mechanical, and references such as “These times spent” are not entirely clear. To strengthen cohesion, organise the discussion around a direct comparison of benefits and drawbacks, and use clearer references to the ideas and examples already introduced.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “foreign study,” “job placement,” “work cultures,” “capabilities,” and “opportunities.” These choices make the subject clear, and phrases such as “broaden their knowledge” show an attempt to use less basic language. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “foreign soil,” “real industry,” “open more door,” and “outside nations.” There is also repetition of general terms such as “students,” “ideas,” and “things,” which limits precision. Aim for more natural academic collocations and specific wording—for example, describe gaining “international exposure” or understanding “industry practices.” Greater accuracy and variety would make the argument more fluent and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “where,” and “who,” and the main ideas are generally understandable. However, some grammatical errors recur in agreement, articles, and plural forms. For example, “the student meets with the people … who shares” has inconsistent number agreement, while “many undergraduate college takes” and “a high performing students” contain agreement or article/plural problems. There are also punctuation and spacing slips, such as the space before the full stop in “experience .” and the run-on spacing in “way .For instance.” These errors do not usually prevent understanding, but they reduce accuracy. Check subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms, and proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation.
