Student answer (Band 5.0)

Altough undergraduate courses should have to include a period of time to spent studying abroad or doing a work placement but i belive there is some drawbacks also.

i believe advantage of this trend outweigh its disadvantages so my main idea is universitied should have to include sort of time period to spent studying abroad and also for workplacement . the biggest advantage is out come of the result will be top where students learn and earn in this way ,if they need a professional job with highest pay packages this is best way to get it and this treand will leads to provide excellence in every sector.

but in my opinion there are also some drawback like competition will get increase among all the students and employment will get hard for them because if they are spending lots of time on undergraduate courses then when they will do post graduate cousrses lack of time management will also a biggest factor in this

in conclusion to manage undergraduate course university have to first make a management planning in the way they get a good employment and skills

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a clear overall view that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and you mention relevant benefits such as gaining work experience and improving employment prospects, alongside concerns about competition and time management. However, these points are only briefly stated: for example, the link between overseas study or placements and “highest pay packages” is not explained or supported with an example. The conclusion also shifts towards university planning rather than clearly weighing the two sides. The response contains 179 words, so it is 71 words below the 250-word minimum; the eight words copied from the task prompt are excluded. To improve, develop each main point with explanation and a specific example, and make the comparison of advantages and disadvantages explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on advantages, one on disadvantages, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main sections, and phrases such as “but” and “in conclusion” signal contrast and closure. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and several ideas are joined in long, unclear sequences, particularly the sentence beginning “the biggest advantage is out come of the result.” The relationship between spending time on undergraduate study and later time-management problems is also difficult to follow. Use one central point per paragraph, then explain it in a logical order. More precise linking and clearer references would make the argument easier to follow without relying on basic transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “professional job,” “employment,” “skills,” and “competition,” so the general subject is understandable. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “pay packages” and “time management.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or unclear, including “out come of the result,” “this treand,” and “workplacement.” Frequent spelling errors, such as “Altough,” “belive,” and “universitied,” also reduce the clarity and polish of the response. Build a bank of accurate topic vocabulary and check spelling carefully. Prefer precise phrases such as “gain practical experience” and “improve career prospects,” and avoid combining words that repeat the same meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the response includes basic contrast and conditional structures. However, control is inconsistent, especially when sentences become longer. For example, “Altough undergraduate courses should have to include … but i belive…” combines two contrasting structures, while “this treand will leads” has an incorrect verb form. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “the biggest factor in this,” which leaves the thought incomplete. Capitalisation and punctuation are also unreliable. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine ideas using one clear subordinate clause at a time. Check subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and sentence endings during proofreading.
