Student answer (Band 5.0)

Yes, I think advantages of the period of time spent studying abroad or doing workplace would outweigh the disadvantage. By spending time on such activities during your undergraduate course will provide so many skills which will help you to reach the need of market. I think so these type of period will provide more outcome than your undergraduate course and its books. When you do something practically it will help to analysis your study material in real life. This will build you to work in market before the time. When you go to the workplace you explore the feild, meets their expert, get guidance and come to know that how actually they are working. It will make easier to decide your further specialisation or make it easy for you to decide your feild when you physically explore the workplace you actually explore your interest. And studying abroad help you to explore ither cultures, their traditions, history and language. You have interactions with the people help you to explore

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You take a clear position in favour of the proposal and give relevant reasons: workplace experience can build practical skills, expose students to experts, and help them choose a specialisation, while study abroad can broaden cultural understanding. However, the response addresses the task only partially: the disadvantages are not discussed, and the benefits are mostly asserted rather than supported with examples or explanation. The final point about interacting with people is left unfinished. The response is also 160 words, below the required 250 words; the eight words copied from the prompt are excluded from this count. To strengthen the response, address both sides, explain why the advantages outweigh the costs or disruption, and develop each point with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The ideas are generally relevant and there is a basic sequence from workplace learning to study abroad. Linking phrases such as “When you do something practically” and “And studying abroad” help signal the movement between points. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the main ideas and the overall argument are not clearly separated. Several points run together, particularly the discussion of workplace exploration and choosing a specialisation, and the ending stops mid-thought. Repeated use of “you” also makes the progression feel less controlled. Use separate paragraphs for the introduction, each main argument, and the conclusion, and connect them with clear references and transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “workplace,” “guidance,” “specialisation,” “cultures,” and “traditions,” which allows the reader to understand your main ideas. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, sometimes making the meaning less clear. For example, “reach the need of market” and “provide more outcome” do not express your intended ideas naturally, while “explore” is repeated several times. There are also spelling errors such as “feild” and “ither.” Aim for more precise academic phrases and check spelling; for instance, describe how placements help students “meet labour-market demands” and “gain practical experience.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentence forms, including a conditional idea in “When you do something practically it will help…” and a sentence explaining how workplace experience can influence specialisation. However, the range remains limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. The opening “By spending time … will provide” has no clear grammatical subject, and “meets their expert, get guidance” does not maintain consistent verb forms. Other examples include “these type of period” and “help you to explore,” where agreement or sentence construction needs attention. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles, and punctuation when joining clauses.
