Student answer (Band 5.0)

There is no denying the fact that many universities gives chances to studend to have a practical training and some times even go outside the contry and study their. While it is a commonly held belief that the benifits of this are way more important than its disadvantages there is also an argument that opposes it. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear overall view that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and you identify relevant benefits of both studying abroad and work placements. The examples about engineering in Japan and medical students help connect your points to the topic. However, the response addresses the task only partially: the disadvantages are mentioned in the introduction but never explained, and the supporting ideas are brief or unfinished. The final example ends at “different ledi…”, so the argument is left incomplete. The response also contains 214 words, below the required 250, which limits how fully you can develop your position. To strengthen the answer, explain at least one drawback, weigh it against the benefits, and complete each example with a clear link to your opinion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: an introduction states your position, followed by separate paragraphs on studying abroad and work placements. Linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “Another point to consider,” and “Moreover” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, there is no clear overall progression because the disadvantages promised in the introduction are not discussed, and the response stops during an example. Several ideas are crowded into long sentences, while connections such as “in other words” do not clearly explain the relationship between the points that follow. Use one main idea per paragraph, develop it in a logical sequence, and add a concluding paragraph that weighs the advantages against the disadvantages.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “practical training,” “work placement,” “cultures,” “technology,” and “diseases,” and some phrases communicate relevant ideas. However, the range is limited and many spelling errors make the text difficult to read, for example “studend,” “benifits,” “abord,” and “diffirent.” Some word choices and combinations are also unclear, such as “discover more about others see in different perspectives” and “dissimilar materials.” These problems sometimes make the reader work to understand your meaning. Build a reliable set of topic vocabulary and check spelling carefully; also learn natural combinations such as “gain practical experience,” “broaden their perspectives,” and “apply knowledge in practice.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast clause beginning “While it is a commonly held belief…” and a reason introduced by “because” in the engineering example. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to cause difficulty. For example, “many universities gives” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “a chances” and “students … is” show problems with number and agreement. The sentence beginning “Another point to consider” also contains an incomplete construction: “doing work placement helps students to actualy practicing.” Several sentences run together without clear punctuation, making their structure hard to follow. Practise accurate sentence patterns, especially agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries.
