Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You make a relevant connection between university study, overseas experience and part-time work, and you give a personal example by referring to your time at a UK university. However, the response does not clearly answer whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages: no disadvantages are discussed, and your position is not explained or supported. Ideas such as gaining “life experience” and having a job to support your expenses are mentioned but not developed with reasons or examples. The response is also substantially below the required 250 words, so it cannot provide the explanation and coverage the task needs. To improve, state your view directly, discuss both benefits and drawbacks, and extend each point with specific explanations or examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a basic attempt to connect related ideas: you move from studying abroad and life goals to your experience at a UK university and the need for a part-time job. This gives the reader a general sense of your topic. However, the response is very short and has no clear paragraph structure or progression through an argument. Several ideas are repeated or placed together without showing how they relate, as in “study manage the life and life goals” followed by “some achivement are difficult.” The final point about expenses is also difficult to follow because the sentence repeats “part time job.” Organise the response into an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion, using clear links between each point.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “study abroad,” “work placement,” “life experience,” and “part time job,” so the general subject is identifiable. There are also attempts to express abstract ideas such as “achieving life goals.” However, the vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and several word forms or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts of the message unclear. For example, “study manage the life” does not express a clear relationship, while “supporting me my expenses” is not a natural phrase. Spelling errors such as “achivement” and “universty” also reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of phrases for discussing benefits, drawbacks, skills, and costs, and check spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The response mainly uses short, simple statements and attempts a few longer structures, such as “to continue the study i would like the part time job.” This shows an effort to connect ideas, but sentence forms are often incomplete or difficult to interpret. For instance, “my opinion university should focus on time spend in study abroad” lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “some achivement are difficult but its very important” has problems with agreement and sentence punctuation. Articles and verb forms are also frequently missing or inaccurate. Use complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and practise combining ideas with simple conjunctions before attempting longer structures. Careful proofreading for capitals and full stops would also improve readability.
