Student answer (Band 6.0)
Whether a university undergraduate courses should include period of time studying abroad or work placement is a widely debated issue. Both of these perspectives have many advantages and disadvantages. I believe that advantages of including studying abroad outweigh the disadvantages.
On the one hand, many people believe that sending undergradutes to foreign countries during their university courses is having many acedemic benefits. It help them learn new methods and advanced technology in their field of education. Moreover,it provides to deal with different problems and opportunity to deal with different issues not present in their own lacalities. Futhermore, exposure at global level boost up students confidence. For example many medical universities send their students abroad for short period of time to give them exposure of modern technology. It also promotes hormony among different nations by woking together and exchanging new ideas.
On the other hand, critics argue that sending university students to other countries is nonessential as they should spend their time working in local areas to get experience. In addition, it requires high budget without any abvious benefits, which can be used elsewhere for better purposes.
In conclusion, I believe that students should be send to other countries for global exposure in their field to keep them updated about their field and face the challneges of future. I suggest government should provide adequate fund to the universities for arranging foreign training. This investment will ultimately would be paid back in the form of achievements and innovations of these students in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you believe the advantages of studying abroad outweigh the disadvantages, and you address both sides of the question. The benefits you identify—learning new methods and technology, gaining confidence, and exchanging ideas—are relevant, while cost and the value of local experience provide a counterargument. However, some points are asserted rather than explained. For example, the medical-university example mentions exposure to modern technology but does not show how this improves students’ future work. The disadvantages are also treated briefly, and the response focuses mainly on studying abroad rather than developing the work-placement option. Explain the consequences of each point and compare the benefits with the costs more directly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs signposted by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion that restates your view. This makes the argument easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “In addition,” and the ideas generally progress within each paragraph. To make the organisation more effective, avoid stacking connectors where the relationship between ideas is not fully explained. For instance, the points about confidence and international harmony would benefit from clearer links to the central argument. Develop the counterargument in a fuller paragraph and use references such as “this experience” or “these costs” precisely to connect ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “advanced technology,” “global exposure,” “adequate fund,” and “innovations,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “nonessential” and “ultimately.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations are noticeable, including “undergradutes,” “acedemic,” “lacalities,” and “boost up students confidence.” Some expressions are vague, such as “deal with different problems” and “better purposes,” which limits precision. Choose more natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, explain what kinds of problems students encounter and what alternative uses of funding would achieve. This would make your vocabulary more accurate and flexible.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a contrastive opening and a conditional-style explanation of how funding could be used. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and verb forms. For example, “Whether a university undergraduate courses should include period” has an incorrect noun phrase and lacks an article, while “It help them learn” needs subject–verb agreement. The conclusion’s “This investment will ultimately would be paid back” combines incompatible verb forms. Work on accurate sentence patterns and proofread each sentence for its subject, verb, and tense. Greater control of these forms would make your argument smoother without requiring more complicated structures.
