Student answer (Band 4.5)

All university undergraduate courses should include a period of time spent studying abbroad or doing a workplacement.

I think that advantages of this thing are that undergraduate courses the students learn more from this thing. many student leaen every thing in abbroads such as when a student go to the UK for higher study then he make a good person because the ebnvironment of the UK he learns many things, such as how to graduate in abroads, how learn, how study schadule. He learnt many things, when he graduate from the abroad study the he bacome a good man and professional.

When he saw the saw the environment of UK study then he think that this environment is very intellectual. But on the other hand this have many disadvantges which make the the student more poor due to low income. many income is spent on the abroad and low level people can not effort that.fist of all if a student is take scholarship from the the abroad UK study the that is good. Other thing is that for student very difficult to living in the abroad due to there is npo friends and no family members. For example a studen went to UK for study, after arrived at the UK he feel more difficulty beacause of aloness and he can not study at the UK.therefore, I think that abroad study is more study but living in the abroad is so difficult for new person. So, study at your own country, if you got scholarship then you go.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You address both the benefits and drawbacks and give a final view: overseas study may help students learn, but cost and loneliness can make it difficult. However, the position is not consistently clear. The ending, “So, study at your own country, if you got scholarship then you go,” sounds like advice rather than a direct, reasoned answer about whether advantages outweigh disadvantages. The examples about a student in the UK are relevant but repetitive and do not explain clearly how study abroad improves learning or professional prospects. The response is also below the required 250 words: it contains 245 words, and the 12 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop the comparison and support your conclusion with clearer reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: benefits are introduced first, followed by disadvantages and a concluding recommendation. Linking phrases such as “on the other hand,” “For example,” and “therefore” show awareness of how ideas can be connected. However, the progression is difficult to follow because points are repeated, including the description of the UK study environment, and several sentences run together without clear relationships. The paragraphing is also limited, with the main discussion presented as one long block. Separate the advantages and disadvantages into distinct paragraphs, give each paragraph one central point, and use references such as “this experience” only when their meaning is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses basic vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “scholarship,” “environment,” “professional,” “income,” and “family members.” These words help communicate the main concerns about learning, affordability, and isolation. However, the range is narrow and several expressions are repeated, especially “many things,” “abroad,” and “study.” Some word choices or combinations make the meaning unclear, such as “abroad study is more study” and “make a good person.” Spelling errors, including “abbroad,” “disadvantges,” and “aloness,” also weaken clarity. Build a more precise set of topic phrases and check spelling; for example, explain that placements develop practical skills or that living costs create financial pressure.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a conditional idea in “if a student is take scholarship … that is good.” However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make the reader work to understand the message. Examples include “many student leaen,” “when a student go,” “he make,” and “he feel,” where subject–verb agreement and verb forms are not controlled. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also problematic, as in “low level people can not effort that.fist of all,” while clauses are sometimes joined without a clear structure. Practise accurate present and past forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. First write shorter, complete sentences, then combine them using correctly formed subordinate clauses.
