Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You take a relevant position in favour of including overseas study or work placements, and you give reasons such as building confidence, learning workplace behaviour, and gaining experience that may help graduates find jobs. The example about senior students at your university is also relevant. However, the response does not discuss disadvantages or directly weigh them against the advantages, so it addresses only part of the question. Several points are repeated rather than explained with specific detail. The response is also 244 words, six words below the 250-word minimum; the nine words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To improve, state clearly whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, address both sides, and develop each reason with a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a recognisable central line of argument: placements build confidence and experience, which can support future employment. You also attempt to connect ideas with words such as “because,” “however,” and “in this way.” However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, and ideas are not arranged into clear stages. The same claims about getting a job easily and facing no difficulty recur several times, while “however” does not introduce a clear contrasting point. Some links between sentences are difficult to follow. Use separate paragraphs for your position, advantages, disadvantages, and conclusion; then organise each paragraph around one main idea and use linking expressions only when their relationship is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

Your vocabulary includes relevant topic words such as “internship,” “professional level,” “duties,” “responsible,” and “experience,” so the reader can identify the subject of your argument. However, the range is basic and repetitive, especially in repeated references to “job easily” and “no difficulty.” Frequent spelling errors, including “universty,” “confidenace,” and “carrior,” make the writing less clear and reduce the accuracy of your word use. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “work at professional level” and “experience the job related to their field.” Build a wider set of accurate expressions for workplace skills and employment outcomes, and check spelling and collocations carefully before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to express reasons and consequences using clauses with “because” and “when,” for example, “when students when to aboard they build up a confidenace.” This shows an effort to connect ideas, but most sentences rely on simple patterns, and errors are frequent enough to make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “all university undergraduate course should,” “the students doesnot,” and “when the students done their enternship”; these show problems with agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction. Run-on sentences and inconsistent punctuation also obscure where one idea ends and another begins. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and past and present verb forms, and divide long sentences into shorter, correctly punctuated units.
