Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

A specific matter is quite discussed now a days regarding studying abroad for a while during student's graduation or indulging in any temperory job.I strongly agree that its benefits are more effective for any student's professional growth and that is why it totally dominates its demerit prospective.

the first effective advantage is adoption of modern technology. For instance , if a civil graduate does a temperory job in any developed country. He will be surrounded with modern techniques of measurments such as GPS(Global Positioning System), usage of drones in irrigation etc. This will diversify his approach of thinking which might not be possible while his stay in native university.

Furthermore , studying in abroad during undergraduation will allow a student to evolve its communication skills.Being surrounding with multi-national students will help an individual to learn more language words and may learn to intreact with any foreigner. This advantage will help a student in his professional life in long term.

Another effective benefit that may outweight any demerit is the improvement in an individual's social status. There have been some drastic changes in thiking approach of natives of developing countries.Either in any job interviews or public gatherings , the one who has foriegn exposure ultimately dominates the native graduates/people in each field.

In contrast to that, There are certian disadvantage of choosing this approach while undergraduation. The first troublesome demerit is self isolation of a student. There have been many reports which explains that the introvert persons in foriegn country are victim of extreme lonliness, which leads to health issues. The another one is minor difficulties in religion obligations. for example , if a muslim student is enrolled in any europeon city that has few mosques or least muslim majority, will face minor difficulties. However, with the passage of time , these issues can be rectified. The effective solutions such as frequent video calls with parents or following islamic timelines from internet individually can sort out these issues.

in the end , every decsion has some merits and demerits as well. But studying a certain time in abroad will surely be more effective for a student's progess such as improving in his technical field as per modern requirements and many more. And, the disadvantages of this side ,however, are not merely an obstacle. Therefore , the advantages of this descion can completely outweigh the disadvantages from my point of view.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you believe the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. You address both sides and give relevant reasons, including exposure to technology, communication skills, social status, isolation, and religious obligations. The civil-engineering example helps make the technology point more concrete. However, some claims are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the link between foreign exposure and higher social status is broad, and the disadvantages are described as minor without much comparison to the benefits. To strengthen the response, explain how placements or study abroad produce these outcomes and weigh their importance more explicitly. The response covers the task well overall, but development is uneven and some support remains general.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion that restates your view. Sequencing is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “Furthermore,” “In contrast,” and “in the end” help readers recognise the stages of your argument. Some linking is mechanical or imprecise, however, and the repeated use of “effective advantage/benefit” makes the progression feel formulaic. The paragraph on disadvantages also shifts from isolation to religious obligations without a clear transition between the two points. Use more varied, precise links and make the relationship between each example and its main idea explicit. This would make the organisation more fluent and the references easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary suited to the topic, including “modern techniques,” “communication skills,” “professional growth,” and “social status.” These choices show an effort to discuss education and employment beyond basic terms. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors sometimes make the meaning less natural or require the reader to interpret your intention: “temperory,” “intreact,” “lonliness,” and “thiking approach” are examples. Several phrases are also awkward or imprecise, such as “dominates its demerit prospective” and “learn more language words.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations as complete phrases. A more controlled set of precise expressions would improve clarity more than adding further ambitious vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer, complex sentences, including conditional examples and clauses introduced by “which” and “while.” This gives the response some structural variety. However, complex sentences are often not controlled accurately, and errors in articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence boundaries recur. For example, “There have been many reports which explains” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “if a civil graduate does a temperory job…He will be surrounded” has inconsistent sentence punctuation and capitalisation. Phrases such as “studying in abroad” also show difficulty with grammatical patterns. Practise building accurate sentences with subordinate clauses, and proofread for agreement, articles, and punctuation. Greater control is needed for the range attempted to read smoothly.
