Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is a debate that the curriculum of all university undergraduate programs should have credit hours for internship work and also for semester exchange programs. I firmly believe that advantages of this initiative will outweigh the disadvantages because it will significantly increase better opportunities for students and it will also boost the economy of country.

One major advantage of including credit hours for work placement is that, it will help students to gain hands on experience along with theory. Students can apply their knowledge in real time projects. For instance, if student is enrolled in computer science course, he/she will study and learn different technologies like website developing or machine learning etc. When there is an opportunity of internship during program in university timing, student don't has to worry about gap between studies and work. In this way he/she can implement his/her skills in real projects, which help him/her to gain practical experience.

However, through semester exchange programs students can explore and learn more about other cultures and innovations in the related field. It also helps students to gain better opportunities at international level which in return is favourable for a country. For example, many student nowadays wanted to go abroad for their studies and they got the opportunity too but many universities don't allow it. So, when studying abraod through exchange program will allow in universities, talented people can avail this opportunity. They can learn about different technologies and can gain more knowledge about their fields. Upon returning to their country, when they will work on large projects it will automaticaly boost the economy of country.

In conclusion, the timeperiod for work placement and studing abroad including in program will definitely increase several benefits on individual level as well as on community level. It will offer impressive possibilities to students and also create positive impact on the development of country. Therefore, I believe that advantages of work placement and exchange programs will outweigh the disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you believe the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and the conclusion restates this view. You address both work placements and study abroad, giving relevant benefits such as practical experience, cultural learning and possible economic gains. The computer-science example helps explain how placement could connect theory with practice. However, the response mainly develops advantages and gives little consideration to disadvantages, despite the question asking for a comparison. Some claims, particularly that returning graduates will “automatically boost the economy,” are asserted rather than explained. Develop this reasoning and acknowledge a plausible drawback, such as cost or disruption to study, before showing why the benefits remain greater.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on placements and exchange programmes, and a conclusion. The progression from practical experience to international exposure is easy to follow, and signposts such as “For instance,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This coherent arrangement meets the lower-band expectations and shows some features of stronger organisation. To make the progression more consistently smooth, clarify the relationship between the two benefits and the central comparison of advantages and disadvantages. “However” introduces another advantage rather than a contrasting point, so it is not an accurate link here. Some repeated references to “students” and “opportunity” also make cohesion feel less flexible.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “hands on experience,” “semester exchange programs,” “international level,” and “practical experience.” These choices make the main ideas clear, and you attempt some more specific academic language. However, several word choices and collocations are awkward or imprecise, such as “credit hours for internship work,” “website developing,” and “favourable for a country.” There are also spelling errors, including “abraod” and “automaticaly,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural academic phrasing and check spelling carefully. For example, describe students as gaining “workplace experience” and say that an exchange can “benefit the country” rather than using less idiomatic combinations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional and time clauses, as in “When there is an opportunity of internship…”. Most of the meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make sentences difficult to process. Examples include “student don't has to worry,” “if student is enrolled,” and “many student nowadays wanted,” which show problems with agreement, verb forms and articles. The sentence beginning “So, when studying abraod through exchange program will allow…” is also structurally incomplete. Practise forming complete clauses and checking subject–verb agreement, articles and tense consistency. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentence structures clearer.
