Student answer (Band 6.0)
All university undergraduate programs should mandatorily have a duration of time spent studying overseas or doing a placement because it provides practical experience and deepen their understanding. Studying abroad can be challanging for many students.
Studying overseas to fulfill the prerequisite of the course can be challanging. students studying abroad struggle to adjust in the new environment. Different countries have different climatic conditions and some people find it difficult to adapt. As a result, the student's immunity is declined which makes them fall sick easily. This will have a negative impact on the student's academic outcome. Therefore, it act can disappoint many students which inturn results in a reduction of motivation towards the course.
One of the advantages of studying abroad or doing a work placement is practical experience. Students study theory in the universities. In order to convert theoritical knowledge into practical, working in the respective field as a pre-service worker will be highly benificial. For instance, people studying Bachlor's in teaching should work as a pre-service teacher in schools to get an insight of the working of schools. They can use the learned pedagogical approaches in the classroom to strengthen their knowledge. Another benefit of doing a placement in the respective industry is understand the basic routine which is not taught at the universities. For example, at school, to deliver lessons without much distrurbance it is important for the teachers to organise all the resources at the start of the day. As a result, pre-service teachers learn additional skills by doing a work placement.
In conclusion, all university courses should have a period of time for studying abroad or doing a work placement because students develop practical knowledge and learn additional skills other than in the course. It can be challenging for many students to study overseas and adapt the new environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both the disadvantages and advantages and make your position clear: the conclusion supports including overseas study or placements because they build practical knowledge and additional skills. The teaching-placement examples are relevant and help explain how theory can be applied in classrooms. However, the discussion is uneven: the disadvantage paragraph focuses mainly on climate, illness and motivation, without considering other possible difficulties or explaining how common or serious these effects are. The benefits are more fully illustrated, but the argument does not directly weigh the two sides before reaching its conclusion. To strengthen the response, explain why the practical and professional gains outweigh the adjustment challenges, and develop each main point with a clear consequence or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, a paragraph on challenges, a longer paragraph on benefits and a conclusion. The examples generally follow the points they support, and phrases such as “As a result” and “For instance” help signal relationships between ideas. However, some linking is mechanical or unclear. “Therefore, it act can disappoint many students” interrupts the progression, and the conclusion largely repeats the introduction rather than drawing together the comparison. The benefits paragraph also contains several related points in one long sequence. Use clearer topic sentences, make references such as “it” unambiguous, and connect the final judgement explicitly to the disadvantages discussed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “practical experience,” “theoretical knowledge,” “pedagogical approaches” and “academic outcome.” These choices help communicate the subject matter, and the teaching examples show an attempt to use more specific language. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “challanging,” “benificial,” “Bachlor’s” and “distrurbance.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “a duration of time,” “the student’s immunity is declined” and “understand the basic routine.” These do not prevent the reader from following the main argument, but they limit precision and naturalness. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for academic and workplace contexts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including cause-and-effect clauses such as “which makes them fall sick easily” and purpose structures such as “In order to convert theoretical knowledge into practical.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “it act can disappoint” has incorrect verb structure, “students studying abroad struggle to adjust in the new environment” needs an article and a more suitable preposition, and “Another benefit … is understand” needs a grammatical complement. There are also punctuation and capitalisation slips, such as the lowercase “students” after a full stop and the missing space after “easily.” Review subject–verb agreement, articles and verb patterns, then proofread sentence boundaries.
