Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is no denying fact that the phenomena of an internship or training should be included in university study courses is ubiquitous across the globe due to its importance. Majority of folks are in the favor of this statement due to its number of merits. However, some of the people highlight its demerits first. From my perspective, its merits can outweigh its demerits, and in my further paragraph, advantages and disadvantages of the same will be discussed.

Initiating with the benefits of the same, the first and foremost key benefit is that including abroad's training courses in the university's syllabus, students can get a chance to learn in different atmosphere. For example, if a student goes for a training session to abroad, she will be able to train herself using advanced technology in the foreign country. Another benefit which can strike the minds of the people can be, students will get a chance to communicate with foreign peoples and knowledgable teachers.

On the darker side, some of the drawbacks which make it problematic are, first, if a university does not carry the training cost, sometimes students can not afford the expenditure of visiting abroad. Secondly, sometimes students can not adjust with the new environment and get themselves devastated. For instance, the cost of having internships in USA, UK is too much that most educators don't give advice to go to abroad.

In conclusion, to the above statement, neither its pros can be neglected nor its cons. It is a mixed bag of positives and negatives. In my opinion, although taking placement in abroad have some negative effects but every university should take proper step including abroad internship course in their syllabus.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the question and state a position: “its merits can outweigh its demerits.” The benefits of exposure to different learning environments and contact with overseas teachers are relevant, as are the concerns about cost and adjustment. However, the discussion does not fully establish why the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The benefits are asserted rather than explained in depth, and the cost example is unclear: “most educators don't give advice to go to abroad” does not show how this drawback affects students or universities. Your conclusion also calls the issue “a mixed bag” without clearly reaffirming that the advantages are greater. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation and make the comparison explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, a benefits paragraph, a drawbacks paragraph and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Initiating with the benefits” and “On the darker side” help signal the shift between ideas, and examples are placed alongside the relevant points. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent arrangement and shows some stronger control through paragraphing. However, several transitions sound formulaic, and the introduction promises that both sides “will be discussed” rather than guiding the reader toward your position. Connections within paragraphs are sometimes abrupt, particularly between the cost concern and the example about educators. Use clearer cause-and-effect links and refer back to your central comparison throughout.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “advanced technology,” “expenditure,” “drawbacks” and “devastated.” However, the range is limited by repeated general terms such as “benefit,” “chance” and “same,” and several word choices or collocations are noticeably unnatural. For example, “There is no denying fact,” “abroad's training courses,” “foreign peoples” and “take placement in abroad” make parts of the response less fluent and sometimes less precise. “Ubiquitous” is also not a natural fit for describing the importance of internships in this context. Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “work placements abroad,” “international students and instructors,” and “undertake a placement overseas,” rather than choosing unusually formal words without checking their use.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if a student goes for a training session to abroad, she will be able to train herself.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. Examples include the missing article in “Majority of folks,” the agreement and structure in “including abroad's training courses in the university's syllabus, students can get,” and the verb form in “taking placement in abroad have.” There are also errors with countability and number, as in “foreign peoples,” and sentence punctuation is sometimes awkward, particularly in “some of the drawbacks … are, first, if…”. Practise building complete clauses and checking articles, agreement and verb forms; this will make your varied sentence attempts more controlled.
