Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You recognise the topic and attempt to discuss both studying abroad and work placement, with a relevant example about Indian students who lack suitable opportunities. However, the response only partially addresses the question: it does not clearly state whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and the ideas are brief and often unclear. For instance, “It can build forgeign education, get work experience” lists possible benefits without explaining how they help students, while the disadvantage about students leaving and harming the economy is not clearly linked to a required period of study or placement. The response is also below the required 250 words. To improve, give a direct position and develop each main point with a clear explanation and a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic structure, with an introduction followed by paragraphs beginning “Firstly” and “Secondly,” so the reader can identify an attempt to separate advantages from disadvantages. Some linking phrases, including “In addition,” “For example” and “As a result,” also show awareness of how ideas can be connected. However, progression is limited: the first body paragraph moves between studying abroad, work placement and financial income without a clear sequence, and the final sentence repeats the point about losing talented students rather than concluding the argument. Some links are also difficult to follow, such as “As a result they face many difficulties.” Organise each paragraph around one main idea, explain it in order, and finish with a conclusion that answers the outweigh question.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “undergraduate,” “work placement,” “foreign education,” “unemployment” and “economy,” which helps establish the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, such as “build forgeign education,” “fainancial reward among the student” and “lake of employment.” Spelling errors, including “diffiiculties,” “telented” and “countrey,” are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the vocabulary. Try to use precise phrases for the ideas you want to express—for example, describe gaining international experience or contributing to the home-country economy—and check spelling carefully. Reusing a small set of general terms also limits how clearly you can distinguish the benefits from the drawbacks.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including a conditional idea (“If they study abroad…”) and a contrast introduced by “whereas.” This shows some effort to vary sentence forms. However, the range remains limited, and errors are frequent enough to make several sentences difficult to understand. Examples include “all the universities include different kind of course,” “why university include,” and “if student have access to time spent studying abroad”; these contain problems with articles, plurals and sentence construction. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “However” after a semicolon and “i” in the introduction. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking agreement, articles and punctuation.
