Student answer (Band 6.0)

In my perspective, exchange program should be the part of univeristy undergraduate courses to spent time abroad. When student spent their time to study in foreign or doing work placements there, it definitely help them to explore new culture as well as the tradition and learn language of that particular place.

If students get an opportunity to be the part of such program through proper merit system, they will strive harder to get placement and to secure the exchange program through their university.

Disadvantage to such program and work placement could be the biasness or home sickness that might be felt by students when they are apart from their home. For an institution, MOU signing and collaborations could be the problem. But advantages of this would explicitly outweigh the disadvanatges. Students will learn more about new researches and they brought back these all to their parent institution and homeland to enhance technological advancement there.

I know one of my friends, went to Turkey on exchange program that offered by her university in her 3rd year. She said that she explored and acquired much more knowledge that she might have got here. Studying in new culture, widen the thought process and strengthen the one's cognitive powers. She is also now participating in different research work at her own parent institute.

At last, I concluded that the chance for undergraduate students is the best initiative that should be taken at adminsterative levels. It would not only widen up the academic expertise but also equip them with the interpersonal communication and to acquire different culture, tradition adn languages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both the requirement for a placement or study period and whether its benefits outweigh its drawbacks, and your position is clear: the advantages are greater. Relevant benefits include cultural learning, language acquisition, research exposure and personal development; the example of your friend in Turkey also helps make the argument concrete. However, some points are asserted rather than explained. For instance, the claim that students will “strive harder” through a merit system is not clearly connected to the value of studying abroad, while the institutional difficulties of “MOU signing and collaborations” are mentioned but not developed. Explain how these disadvantages affect students and why the benefits outweigh them to make the response more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: it introduces the proposal, discusses benefits and drawbacks, gives a personal example, and concludes with a recommendation. This makes the main line of argument understandable. Some connections between ideas are less clear, however. The merit-system point appears abruptly after the opening, and the paragraph combining homesickness, institutional agreements and research benefits moves between different topics without a clear progression. Linking phrases such as “For example” and “However” help, but the conclusion’s “At last” is not a natural signal for a final summary. Group related points into focused paragraphs and use references that clearly show how each example supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “exchange program,” “work placements,” “technological advancement,” “cognitive powers” and “interpersonal communication.” These choices allow you to discuss academic, cultural and personal benefits, and your meaning is generally clear. Some less common expressions are not used naturally or precisely: “biasness” does not clearly describe a likely disadvantage, and “acquired much more knowledge that she might have got here” is awkwardly phrased. There are also spelling errors, including “univeristy,” “disadvanatges” and “adn.” Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; more precise wording would make your argument sound more fluent and convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional construction (“If students get an opportunity… they will strive harder”) and a relative clause in the example about your friend. The overall meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “When student spent their time” has problems with the article, number and verb form, while “it definitely help them” has subject–verb agreement error. In “I know one of my friends, went to Turkey,” the clause is incorrectly punctuated and structured; “Studying in new culture, widen the thought process” also has a subject–verb agreement problem. Review articles, agreement and clause construction, then proofread to improve accuracy while retaining varied sentence patterns.
