Student answer (Band 6.0)

Universities undergraduate courses should indulge a time period spent studying overseas or doing a internship . I beleive that its advantages such as it can provide better future opportunities and enhance practical skills outweigh its disadvantages .

The most compelling reason of doing as work placement is that it can enhance life-long skills of an individual . As universities provide internship to students , through communicate with different people can enhance their communication skills and professional knowledge . For an instance , in USA , universities provide internship to students that can help them to enhance their practical skills . As a result , they can access better professional experience .

Another significant of studying abroad is that it can provide better future opportunities to students . As universities include a period of time spent studying abroad it can provide them better education access which is beneficial for their future . For an instance , students who studied abroad have several firms in which they can do internship . As a result , it can help them to become independent and they can manage their expenses .

However , inspite of several benefits it has drawbacks too as students can suffer from mental stress and pressure to manage their studies along with their work placement . For an instance , in Canada , pupils who do internship along with their studies may face many difficulties to balance their work life together . As a result , it can affect students mentally and create a pressure on their minds .

To conckude , it can be restated that although it has few limitations ,I personally hold the view that it is highly benificial because it not only enhance their practical skills but also provide better access to future opportunities .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you believe the benefits of overseas study or work placements outweigh the drawbacks. You address both sides, giving practical skills and future opportunities as advantages and mental pressure as a disadvantage. These points are relevant, but some are less fully explained than others. For example, the link between studying abroad and having “several firms in which they can do internship” is unclear, and the examples about the USA and Canada are broad rather than showing a specific outcome. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation or a concrete example, and compare the scale of the benefits with the stress-related drawback more explicitly. The response meets the task’s length requirement; eight words copied from the prompt were excluded from the count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for two advantages, a paragraph on a disadvantage, and a conclusion. This makes your position easy to follow. You also use signposting such as “Another significant…” and “However” to show the relationship between points. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical because several sentences follow the same “For an instance… As a result…” pattern. Some references are also unclear: in “it can provide them better education access,” it is not immediately clear what “it” refers to. Use a wider range of linking methods and make pronoun references explicit. Within paragraphs, connect explanations more smoothly so that examples clearly support the point being made.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “practical skills,” “professional knowledge,” “future opportunities,” and “mental stress,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “The most compelling reason.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, as in “indulge a time period,” “better education access,” and “manage their work life together.” Spelling errors such as “beleive,” “conckude,” and “benificial” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your overall argument, but they limit precision. Learn common academic collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully when proofreading.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “although” and “as,” and most of your meaning remains understandable. Some sentences show useful control, such as “although it has few limitations, I personally hold the view…” However, there are some recurring grammatical errors. For example, “through communicate with different people can enhance” lacks a clear subject and uses an incorrect verb form; “it not only enhance” has a subject–verb agreement error; and “a internship” uses the wrong article. Commas are also inconsistently spaced or placed. Review sentence structure, articles, and agreement, then proofread each sentence to ensure that its subject and main verb are clear.
