All university undergraduate courses should include a period of time spent studying abroad or doing a work placement.
Do you think the advantages of this would outweigh the disadvantages?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Many individuals argue that every university should need to include one period about study abroad in their time table. It is my contention that it would be far superior because it will improve the students knowledge.
One of the compelling rasionale to add a period about studying in foreign countries is that student will understand the lifestyle and variety of cultures, such as their clothes, and other domestic chores. How they faster get rich. For instance when I was in 9th class one of our teacher name Meer Mazharudin took a class about chinese lifestyle and tells us why you have to go to china from that one lecture, currently I know what actually chinese eats? My answer be Snacks and other insects. Consequently, Arranging a class about that gives us a plenty of information about the cultures.
The next significant positive impact is that they will get the true directions to their future career opportunaties. Every person want that he has luxury house and car, thats why people are trying to continue their further study on schlorship abroad and start their own business to make millions to support their family. For instance, in our family one of my uncle was very poor. He was a labour and uneducated. He do every thing for his son and admit him in private english school. After that he got a scholarship in italy and right now he is the richest boy in our village. Have two BMW and one Ferrari car in America. So finally it means we can get true direction through these classes and can complete our wishes.
In conclusion, There is limited words to say the benefits of this class to add in schedule. IT enhance knowledge and make future bright.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You give a clear preference for including overseas study, stating that it would improve students’ knowledge, and you offer examples from a teacher’s lesson and your uncle’s family. However, the response only partly addresses the question: it discusses benefits but does not consider any disadvantages or explain why the advantages outweigh them. Some support is also unclear or weakly connected to the proposal. For example, the story about your uncle’s scholarship and wealth does not show how a required period abroad or a work placement would lead to these outcomes. Develop relevant reasons, explain the link to the policy, and briefly acknowledge a drawback before weighing the two sides.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs beginning “One of the compelling…” and “The next significant…”, and a conclusion. These paragraph divisions help the reader identify the main points. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the sentence “How they faster get rich” is disconnected from the discussion of culture, and the shift from a scholarship to luxury cars needs clearer explanation. Linking phrases such as “For instance” and “Consequently” are used, but some connections feel mechanical or do not accurately show the relationship between ideas. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each example explicitly to its claim, and organise the discussion around both advantages and disadvantages.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt some topic-related vocabulary, including “lifestyle,” “variety of cultures,” “scholarship,” and “future career opportunities,” and these choices help communicate your general ideas. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making meaning unclear. Examples include “period about study abroad,” “true directions,” and “limited words to say the benefits.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “rasionale,” “opportunaties,” and “schlorship.” Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing education and employment, and check spelling and natural word combinations. For example, describe a “compulsory overseas placement” and explain how it can “broaden students’ perspectives.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use mostly simple sentences and attempt some longer structures, including “For instance when I was in 9th class…” and “Every person want that…”. These attempts show an effort to connect ideas, but control is inconsistent, and errors frequently affect fluency. For example, “student will understand” needs plural agreement, “one of our teacher name” has an incomplete noun phrase, and “He do every thing” has an incorrect verb form. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable, as in “Have two BMW and one Ferrari car in America.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, past-tense narration, articles, and complete sentence construction before adding more complex clauses.
