Student answer (Band 5.0)

Many universities focus mainly on theory and give students little contact with industry. I believe universities should take responsibility for arranging work placements, although students must also develop their own skills.

To begin with, Today, undergraduates need to gain experience from industry professionals. For that purpose, both have some responsibilites such as student pay attention to learning new skills likewise we are living in global village, and technology is upgarded day by day and so if a student have a basic knowledge by its own then university should take step in bringing opportunity for students. University arranges a period of time for student to studying abroad or bring them to industry where they can find their place with professionals. For example, if a student has a potential to do something extraordinary, so univeristy take responsibilty for their work placement.

Moreover, there a thousands of students in univeristy, so it become difficut to give opportunity to everyone. If a student has ability to do something then univerisity must play their role. Administartion have to take step in organizing seminars and free workshop for undergraduate to florish their mind and attachment to industry. These small steps taken by univeristy brings a lof of confidence in students that they can do something. For instance, through workshops by professionals help them a lot in learning to work practically on projects. Observed that some student has good knowledge but they have not experience to work on practical project due to this deficiency mostly students quit their ambitions.

Admitely, there are lot of advantages if univerity taken out these steps its a better for both. Univeristy should arrange the meetups of alumni which can share their journey and success stories to others which help undergraduate to choosing their field of interest and help student in a dignified manners.

In conclusion, university undergraduates can do a lot if there is a proper direction and student have a clear goal, what they have to do in future. and study abroad is a good placement if student have a chance to grab it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response recognises that university-arranged placements and practical experience can benefit undergraduates, and it gives relevant examples such as workshops and alumni sharing career experiences. However, it does not clearly answer the central comparison: whether the advantages of studying abroad or completing a work placement outweigh the disadvantages. The opening focuses on universities’ responsibility, while the body discusses seminars, student ability and confidence; disadvantages are barely considered, and the final paragraph only briefly calls study abroad a good opportunity. Ideas such as limited places and students lacking practical experience are relevant but not developed into a clear evaluation. State your position on the advantages-versus-disadvantages question directly, then explain and support both sides before reaching a reasoned conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a recognisable paragraph structure, with an introduction, two main paragraphs, an acknowledgement of advantages and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help signal stages in the response. However, progression is not consistently clear: the first body paragraph moves from student responsibility to global technology and then to placements, while the second shifts among limited opportunities, workshops and students abandoning ambitions. Some connections are difficult to follow, as in “Observed that some student has good knowledge,” and the conclusion introduces a goal-setting point without clearly drawing together the argument. Organise each paragraph around one main claim and use clearer references to show how examples support it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant topic vocabulary, including “industry professionals,” “work placement,” “undergraduate,” “seminars,” and “alumni.” These terms show an attempt to discuss education and employment, but the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes meaning harder to follow. Examples include “florish their mind,” “a dignified manners,” and “a better for both”; spelling errors such as “responsibilites,” “upgarded,” and “univeristy” also reduce clarity. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise language for evaluating the question—such as describing costs, cultural adjustment or employability—would help express the comparison more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If a student has a potential to do something extraordinary” and clauses explaining why practical experience matters. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence boundaries can make ideas difficult to interpret. For example, “it become difficut” should use a verb agreeing with “it,” and “university should take step” needs an appropriate article and plural form. The sentence beginning “For instance, through workshops by professionals help them” lacks a clear grammatical subject. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them with accurate clauses; also check punctuation and capitalisation.
