Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages and include relevant points about gaining work experience, managing expenses, and becoming tired or losing study time. These examples show an understanding of the topic. However, the response only partially addresses the full proposal: it focuses mainly on working while studying and gives little consideration to studying abroad as a distinct option or to how a required placement might benefit all undergraduates. The position is also not consistently explained; the conclusion says students should manage both, but does not clearly weigh the benefits against the risks. Develop each main point with a specific explanation and make the comparison between advantages and disadvantages explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an introduction, body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the reader can identify the main themes: work experience, financial independence and fatigue. Examples generally follow the points they are intended to support. However, progression is limited because the same ideas—working to pay expenses and becoming too tired to study—are repeated in several paragraphs rather than developed in a clear sequence. Linking phrases such as “For example,” “Moreover,” and “But” help signal relationships, but some connections are mechanical or unclear, as in “But have few disadvantages because…” and “so they can gain some experience and money.” Organise the essay around distinct advantages and disadvantages, and use clearer references and transitions to show how each point supports your overall judgement.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “work placement,” “professional activity,” “work experience,” and “study expenses,” so the reader can follow the general subject. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “work,” “study,” and “manage.” Frequent spelling errors—such as “perpose,” “expances,” “lisners,” and “acadmic”—and inaccurate word forms or collocations, including “higher job effortless” and “manage expences easy,” sometimes make the meaning difficult to process. Aim for accurate, natural phrases rather than adding difficult vocabulary: for example, describe students as gaining “practical experience” or “covering their living costs.” Proofreading spelling and checking common word combinations would improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences using words such as “because,” “when,” and “although,” and you also use some simple sentences to state examples. However, the range of structures is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. For instance, “during study they can doing work” has an incorrect verb form, while “when they study or work together, so they can't focus” combines clauses inaccurately. There are also recurring problems with articles, agreement and sentence construction, as in “Some disadvantages are occur” and “a student study and work together.” These errors can make relationships between ideas unclear. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking verb forms and agreement in each clause.
