Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You express a general view that overseas study and placements can benefit students, and you begin to give a reason: access to more advanced learning resources. However, the response only partially addresses the question. It does not clearly weigh advantages against disadvantages, and the placement point is introduced but not explained; the final sentence, “In addition,” is unfinished. The example about digital technology is also difficult to follow and does not show clearly how students benefit. The response is 172 words, below the required 250, so there is not enough development to support your position. To improve, state explicitly whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, then develop both sides with specific explanations and examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction and two body paragraphs, and phrases such as “On the other hand” signal a change of direction. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow because the second point is left unfinished and the relationship between ideas is not always clear. For example, “On the main hand” does not introduce the first argument naturally, while “In addition,” is not followed by a complete idea. Some linking phrases, including “As a result” and “Therefore,” are used without a clearly established cause-and-effect connection. Build each paragraph around one complete point, explain it, and connect it to the question; finish with a conclusion that restates your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some vocabulary relevant to education and technology, including “work placement,” “study material,” “digital” and “paperless work,” so the topic is recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make meaning unclear, such as “get more modern in study material,” “getting a placement from university,” and “good things to learn in furture.” Spelling errors such as “belive,” “technogic” and “advance” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural phrases: for example, “access up-to-date learning resources,” “complete a university-arranged placement,” and “develop practical skills.” Check spelling carefully and avoid repeating broad words such as “things” when a specific term is available.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “this is because” and a result clause introduced by “As a result.” Some basic meaning can be understood, but frequent errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms make several sentences difficult to interpret. Examples include “a university undergraduate courses addition,” “student are studying,” and “compared to over local country material are not have.” There are also problems with articles, plurals, agreement, and sentence boundaries, including inconsistent capitalisation after full stops. Practise writing complete subject–verb–object sentences first, then add one subordinate clause at a time. Proofread for agreement and articles, and ensure every paragraph ends with a complete sentence.
