Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main user groups and several important satisfaction results, including undergraduates as the largest group (44%) and staff helpfulness as the strongest result (95% very satisfied). However, coverage of the table is incomplete: opening hours, wi-fi reliability, and the fairly satisfied figures are omitted, while the overview that satisfaction ranges from 45% to 95% does not accurately summarise all categories. The statement that undergraduates are “approximately the same” as the combined postgraduate groups is also misleading: 44% is close to, but below, their combined 41% only by a small margin, and the comparison is not clearly explained. Select the strongest contrasts and report them accurately to make the summary more complete and clear.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on user categories, a paragraph on satisfaction, and a concluding overview. This gives the information an overall arrangement, and phrases such as “Also” and “The most noticeable feature” help signal additions and emphasis. However, progression is weakened by the final overview repeating broad points without clearly synthesising the two visuals. Some references are also unclear, as in “the maximum numbers are not satisfied with this library of almost 20% in this all users,” where the reader must infer that this refers to journal availability. Use clearer links between each feature and its category, and make the overview a concise comparison rather than a repetition.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary such as “categories,” “full-time postgraduate,” “availability,” and “satisfied,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word combinations are unnatural or imprecise, including “the highest users,” “a quarter users,” “satisfied with this library,” and “not satisfaction.” These choices sometimes make the intended comparison difficult to follow. There is also repetition of “users” and “satisfied,” and “percentages are 8 to 7” is an imprecise way to report two separate figures. Aim for accurate chart language and natural collocations, such as describing a group as “accounting for” a share and reporting satisfaction levels as percentages.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response communicates its basic meaning, but grammatical control is uneven and the sentence patterns are mostly simple. Errors appear in agreement and articles, for example, “The chart provide information” and “a quarter users”; the opening also has an unnecessary capital in “The table.” Some attempted structures are difficult to follow, particularly “The availability of journals users are satisfied with 45% and the maximum numbers are not satisfied…” The final sentence, “The library satisfaction is almost 45% to 95%,” also lacks a clear grammatical relationship between the figures. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, article use, and complete comparison structures. A wider range of controlled sentences would make the data relationships clearer.
