Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main user group accurately: full-time undergraduates make up 44%, and you also report the postgraduate shares and the small proportions of academic staff and distance learners. Your overview notes that satisfaction is generally high, and the staff-helpfulness and journal figures are reported correctly. However, the satisfaction table is only partly covered: opening hours are mentioned, but the 65% very satisfied figure is omitted, and the results for books and wi-fi are not discussed. Also, “neither user was not satisfied” is unclear and does not accurately express the zero dissatisfaction figure. To strengthen the response, select and compare the most notable results across all satisfaction categories, including the high staff rating and the lower ratings for journals and wi-fi.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction and overview are followed by user categories and then satisfaction results. This gives the reader a coherent route through the two visuals, and linking words such as “However” help signal contrast. The final paragraph repeats the overview rather than adding a useful concluding comparison, while the satisfaction paragraph moves from staff to journals and then opening hours without covering the remaining categories. Some references, such as “about it” and “on them,” are also not fully clear. For stronger progression, group the satisfaction results by high and comparatively lower ratings, and use precise references to the service aspect being discussed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “accounted for,” “users,” “satisfied,” and “availability,” so the main information is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “farly,” “availbility,” “useres,” “satisifed,” and “journels” appear in the response. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “satisfied about the journals availability” and “the service provide by the library.” Use accurate collocations and vary the language for proportions and satisfaction levels. For example, “were satisfied with the availability of journals” is more natural, while “represented” or “made up” can vary repeated uses of “accounted for.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including a contrast introduced by “while” and a subordinate clause beginning “When considering.” The meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors remain. In the overview, “majority of library users very satisfied” needs an article and a verb (“the majority … were very satisfied”); “the service provide” should use a passive form (“provided”); and “Quarter of all library users are” needs an article and consistent tense. The final sentence also has subject–verb agreement problems in “majority … was” and omits “were” before “very satisfied.” Aim to check articles, verb forms, agreement, and tense consistency, especially when summarising the data.
