Student answer (Band 6.0)

The piechart and table compares the different type of acedamic students who use library and their rate of satisfaction based on some services.

Overall, full-time undergrads have the highest rate when it come to library usage. Moreover, staff has also been showing immense help towards the students.

At the university, students who are currently undergrads are seen the most in library with 44% rate all over. Additionally, 25% of students who visit library are full-time postgraduate students, who are pursing their masters. The rest includes 16% of part-time masters students, 8% of students are studying virtually and 7% are the academic staff.

After conducting a survey, 95% of students very most satisfied by staff guidance, 65% with the opening hours, 50% with the available books, 45% with journals and 48% with the reliability of wi-fi in the library premises. There were fairly good amount of students who were moderately satisfied with services. However, 20% of them were still not happy with journals as well as 10 with the books and 19% with wi-fi connection. Overall, the percentage of highly satisfied was greater in all.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both visuals and identify the main user group correctly: full-time undergraduates account for the largest share, at 44%. You also report several key satisfaction figures accurately, including 95% for staff helpfulness and 65% for opening hours. However, the overview is incomplete and partly imprecise: “staff has also been showing immense help” does not clearly summarise the satisfaction results, and the claim that highly satisfied users were the majority “in all” is inaccurate. For example, only 45% were very satisfied with journals, while 35% were fairly satisfied and 20% not satisfied. The response also omits the fairly satisfied figures and the zero dissatisfaction for two services. A clearer overview and more balanced selection of comparisons would make the report more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories and a paragraph on satisfaction. This gives the reader a sensible route through the two visuals, and linking expressions such as “Additionally” and “However” help connect points. The progression is generally easy to follow, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. For instance, “There were fairly good amount of students” does not specify which satisfaction category or services are being discussed, and “Overall” is repeated without adding a distinct summary. Grouping the satisfaction results more deliberately—for example, contrasting the strongest ratings with the weaker journal and wi-fi results—would improve cohesion and make comparisons easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing the visuals, including “rate of satisfaction,” “fairly satisfied,” “reliability” and “percentage.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or informal for an academic report. “Immense help” is not a suitable description of a survey result, while “students who are studying virtually” is less precise than the chart’s distance-learning category. “Very most satisfied” is also an awkward expression, and “library premises” adds unnecessary wording. Spelling errors such as “acedamic” and “pursing” further reduce accuracy. Aim for precise chart language and consistent labels, such as “share,” “respondents,” “distance-learning users” and “very satisfied.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including relative clauses such as “students … who are pursuing their masters,” and most of the information remains understandable. Some grammatical errors nevertheless recur. The opening sentence has subject–verb disagreement (“The piechart and table compares”) and an incorrect plural construction (“different type”). In “when it come,” the verb form does not agree with its subject, and “95% of students very most satisfied” is missing a suitable verb. The sentence beginning “There were fairly good amount” also has an article and agreement problem. Check agreement, articles and complete verb phrases, especially when reporting percentages; these corrections would make the report more controlled without sacrificing sentence variety.
