Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both the user categories and satisfaction results, and your overview identifies the largest group—full-time undergraduates—and the lowest—academic staff. You also report several figures accurately, including 44%, 25%, 16%, and the opening-hours and staff-helpfulness results. However, the overview is unclear when it says undergraduates were “half of the library users,” and it does not summarise the broader satisfaction pattern. The reliability of wi-fi figures are omitted, and the comparison of academic staff with distance learners would be clearer if you stated that they were the two smallest groups. Develop the overview by highlighting that staff helpfulness received the strongest satisfaction, while journals had the highest dissatisfaction; then support it with selected figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate discussion of user categories and satisfaction. This gives the reader a generally coherent route through the information. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes weakened by unclear or mechanical links, such as “While” and “In similar,” and the repeated use of “However” does not always signal a clear contrast. The satisfaction paragraph also moves through several categories without a concluding comparison, and wi-fi is left out. Use more precise transitions, group related satisfaction results, and make each paragraph’s main point explicit. For example, contrast the high ratings for staff and opening hours with the lower ratings for journals and wi-fi.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “library users,” “very satisfied,” “availability of books,” and “part-time postgraduate,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range and control are limited by repeated wording and noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including “porporation,” “satified,” “lilbarary,” and “catagories.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise: “were half of the library users” and “registered the lowest porporation” do not express the comparisons clearly. Aim for accurate, conventional chart language and vary reporting verbs and comparison phrases. Proofreading spelling and choosing standard collocations will make your descriptions more precise and easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can usually identify the figures being described. However, sentence structures are often incomplete or inaccurately joined. For example, “the pie chart clear that” lacks a verb, while “In similar Helpfullnesss of staff was…” needs a clearer sentence structure and punctuation. There are also errors in articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “full-time postgraduate were 25% users” and “not satisfied zero.” These issues sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to interpret. Practise complete subject–verb sentences, accurate articles and plural forms, and punctuation between clauses. A few well-controlled complex sentences would improve range without sacrificing clarity.
