Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response provides an overview and selects key features from the data, but the reporting is inconsistent and sometimes inaccurate. For instance, the description of the satisfaction data is confusing; you mention 'reliability of wifi' as the smallest percentage in the overview, but the data shows 'availability of journals' is lower. Furthermore, the analysis of the user categories is somewhat disjointed, and the connection between the categories and the satisfaction data is not clearly explained. To improve, ensure that you accurately transcribe the data points and group them logically to highlight the main trends rather than listing figures in isolation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the awkward transition 'meanwhile research accounted for for reliability of wifi'. The logical progression between sentences is sometimes hindered by grammatical errors, making it difficult to follow the comparison of data. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast', 'furthermore', 'consequently') more naturally to connect your ideas and improve the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'accounted the biggest percentage' and 'very least percent'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'circular diagrams' (instead of 'pie chart') and 'columns table' (instead of 'bar chart'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'segment', 'majority', and 'minority', and ensure you are using the correct terminology for the visual aids provided.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'The circular diagrams provides' (subject-verb agreement), 'Part time postgraduate 16% less than half' (missing verb), and 'academic staff were very least percent' (incorrect phrasing). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. To improve, focus on basic subject-verb agreement, ensure every sentence has a clear main verb, and proofread carefully to correct punctuation and minor slips that detract from your overall accuracy.
