Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully identified the main features of both the chart and the table. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data. However, the response lacks a cohesive structure between the two data sets. The first paragraph is quite brief, and the transition to the table data is abrupt. To improve, ensure you clearly group the data and provide a more analytical comparison rather than just listing figures. While you covered the requirements, the analysis could be more insightful by highlighting the contrast between the high satisfaction with staff and the lower satisfaction with infrastructure.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as the use of 'in case of' and 'moreover' in the first paragraph. The transition between the pie chart description and the table analysis is weak, making the text feel like two separate reports rather than a unified summary. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'the former', 'the latter') is used effectively would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'respondents', and 'dissatisfaction'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'full-time undergraduate contribute the significant group' (should be 'constitute the largest group') and 'availability of journals are most not satisfied' (should be 'least satisfactory'). There are also some minor spelling and punctuation issues throughout. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that your vocabulary is used in a grammatically correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

Your writing contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of the text. Examples include missing articles ('The pie chart'), subject-verb agreement issues ('full-time undergraduate contribute'), and incorrect preposition usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences lacking proper capitalisation or containing unnecessary commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will help improve your score.
