Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the data, including the breakdown of user categories and the satisfaction levels across different services. You provided specific figures to support your points, which is essential for Task 1. However, the report lacks a clear, analytical overview that synthesizes the data effectively. While you mention that satisfied users outnumber dissatisfied ones, the connection between the two datasets (user categories and satisfaction) is not explicitly explored. To improve, ensure your overview highlights the most significant trends rather than just listing data points, and try to make more direct comparisons between the categories.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'In addition to this', and 'Furthermore'. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions are used awkwardly, such as 'At the end concerned the reliability of Wi-Fi'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track which data point belongs to which category. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would enhance the logical progression of your report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey the necessary information. You use terms like 'proportion', 'ratio', and 'satisfied', which are appropriate for describing charts. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'reviews of individuals used library' instead of 'a survey of library users' and 'normally satisfied' instead of 'moderately satisfied'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing when describing percentages and satisfaction levels.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the ratio of satisfied persons are'), subject-verb agreement, and preposition usage ('concerned the library opening hours'). Some sentences are fragmented or lack necessary punctuation, which impacts the overall fluency. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically ensuring that verbs agree with their subjects and that prepositions are used correctly in an academic context.
